Thanks much buddy! Had a shop that couldn't figure this problem out. Your video was spot on. Had it fixed and back together in under an hour. That metal bracket has a tang that sticks out toward the wire loom. I flattened it out

At the ranch I worked on, we had an INCREDIBLE amount of problems with these vans. With both GMC Safari's and the astro vans. Transmission, engine, 4x4 system, wiring, doors, etc...

I have exactly the problem code P0102, P0443 (scan read at AutoZone) and blow fuse. I watched the video and replaced the fuse. Of course after 3 minutes of drive the car cough,choked and stalled. indicating a short. Yes, fuse blown again. Well I could never really find the short. Instead I wrap the wire bundle with thick foam tape wherever it met with any metal clamp or body which eliminate future possibility of short! Problem went away. Probably save hundreds. So far so good. Thanks.

I just put a new CNC Dist in mine and cleared the codes, lucky for me these two codes came right back. You know I was gonna change all the loom when I changed the plugs as the loom turns to dust if you touch it. (Oh the fun) Hindsight I should have checked the loom. I go to google and the first hit is this video. Thank you for posting. 2003 AWD Astro with 235K.

The person who suggested zooming to get closer was a little off base. The close focus limit of most video cameras is much longer when zoomed, so you do better by shooting wide, getting close, and using good light.

Crossing my fingers this is my exact issue. My ECM-1 was initially blown, then ENG-1 and ING-1 went wonky and odd ground fluctuations. Been looking for the short. Hope you found it first ;-) Will check in the AM.
@ocavant8 жыл бұрын
Sadly, my harness was perfect from up top by the convenience center down to where the harness dives down towards the trans. Complete short to ground on both ECM-1 and ENG-1 fuses. No com. from DLC to computer. Computer ref(5v) all fine. Checked every sensor on both circuits...all good. Ignition switch checks good. Checking all grounds, but so far all are solid. Only thing I've not done is drop the tank to see if it is shorted internally. I did disconnect the FP at it's harness. Short still there. Is there a dedicated ground for the pump?? Sorry for the long comment/question...I'm desperate lol.

You may have water in the ignition coil wells where the spark plugs are.

I took off the doghouse and found the Evap Service port connection loose. I put it back into place. The van seems like it has a little more power since. We are going to hook the code reader up to see what if anything that it says.

Hello. You did not show here o good reliable method of patching those wires. Is there a video somewhere already or it's just common sense? :) I'm always afraid my insulation tape will fall of or slide over time in a car and i have to make repairs again.
