Almost seems to have enough room to stack some batteries in parallel and increase the capacity. Great details in this video so thank you very much for doing it!

Thanks for the comment I feel that my bike is better with age I bough it at 23 000 km and now it has 50 000 km it seems to run better and the transmission shits smoother and at first it use to consume some oil now I look at my sight glass every time I take it and it never goes down I think these engines takes quite a long time to fully break in like at least 30 000 km's I use Titan 10W60 fully synthetic oil it BMW M specs oil it perfect for a air/oil cooled engine .

I can tell you're an excellent mechanic. I would love to be able to work on my bike and have the confidence that it would run afterward. I bought a used '07 gs in 2015 with only 2700 miles on it. It ran great for me last year and I put about 10,000 miles on it. I'm just paranoid about the splines on the input shaft but just don't have the $3000 to have them checked. It's such a catch 22 situation..

Thanks for that very interesting and informative film, it has given me more confidence to have a go at my own repairs on my 1200GS, thanks again JP

To line up gearbox I just buy long bolts 150mm & cut heads off & cut slot for screw driver. Sux when 2 piece bolt end comes off in engine side thread when gearbopx already on.. Although I had leaky inlet injecter fuel line I replaced but when I assembled found out I replaced the wrong one & still had the leak so I had to start again & remove air box to replace leaky fuel line again .ha ha should have marked it.

Master9 yes it sux when you have to do it again I bought these guide pins from a BMW part reseller I thought I'm going to buy the correct tool and it will help in the repair turn out I was wrong.

Excellent video very illustrative. Could you help me? I have a 2003 R1150GS. The mechanic replaced the clutch and the wheel where the starter engine grabs to start the engine. Now the starting engine only grabs a fraction of the teeth on the big wheel. I do not know what the mechanics did. Could any of the components have been assembled incorrectly for this to happen? Your comment is greatly appreciated !!

The splines look good on your bike, also on mine when I check them... I think maybe we are going a bit paranoid with this isue

Yes I know but I was dreading the final drive bearing failure even tho I change the oil with synthetic oil I had a failure a about 40 000 km's but it's fine now I love my bike tho.

I got ride of Abs 1 from my 97 R1100RT so less load on battery & save weight. Put braided brake lines in & stops fine as I am used to no abs.Also cost of abs repairs every 4 years not pleasing.If I had to pay dealer bmw prices I would have bought a Kwaka.

How many hours total does it take the average mechanic for the first time to change a clutch on this bike would you estimate? Great video, thank you! Also how many times do you think the clutch material has failed vs the spline failing on this R1150 series BWM.

Long but good video. Only one thing what i do nto agree with is the hole in the clutch pressure piston. Because... a lat of mud and dust will go inside and make polish material and the hole will be damaged.
@lowndeswhatley6598 жыл бұрын
Good thought. To prevent mud and dirt getting in, put a small brass nipple in the hole and a long rubber tube on the nipple to the bottom of the bike, like a carburetor float bowl overflow, or a battery vent tube.

Hi, sorry for my english, great video, some questions, do you need to remove the abs module and the motronic for this operation?, or just the airbox?, I´ stuck with my subframe, but to be honest I´m kind of scary about touch the abs module. saludos
@V10PDTDI8 жыл бұрын
pepefm7018 I think the motronic is going be removed but I don't remember concerning the ABS module I don't have ABS on my bike but if you need to remouve the ABS module don't worry just make sure that the battery is disconnected an other thing you will have to unplug the rear ABS sensor that my bike doesn't have.
@pepefm70188 жыл бұрын
hola, thank´s for the answer, finally I can remove the airbox and lift the subframe, I don´ need the remove the batery support or the motronic and abs module, I only need to use the ratchet tensioner and that´s very easy, maybe it´s to tight cause never doing this on the bike before (????). saludos

Just looking at the thread on your front tyre. It looks like it is on in the wrong direction?
@V10PDTDI8 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for your concern but I went and check my tires and there is and arrow that describes the traveling direction of the tires and they are ok I know there is a 50/50 chance of getting it right or wrong. It's strange when you look at the video I would also think that is wrong.
@lowndeswhatley6598 жыл бұрын
Make sure the arrow is pointed in the correct direction for the front tire. Some manufacturers use arrows that point backwards for the front. The rear wheel is directional for acceleration, the front is for braking - opposite directions, so check with the tire manufacturer.
@V10PDTDI8 жыл бұрын
lowndes whatley Hi you are correct about the direction of the arrow they are both pointing in the correct direction meaning the arrow are pointing toward the front of the bike but the front treads are backwards compared to the rear tire I did not noticed that when I first installed it but it makes sense for braking applications.

Great video thank you ! About the hole you drilled next to the master cylinder. You're not afraid of dust or sand getting in and jam the system ? (sorry if the question was already asked) I plan to ride into the Sahara ahah.
@V10PDTDI6 жыл бұрын
Raphaël Aubert hi I don’t think that the hole is big enough to cause any issues but who knows but for me I don’t go much in mud or sand at all the most I do is a dirt road.
