Can we get to 500 Sub's this month?!
It's always a gut-wrenching day when you strap down a project for the first time. I'm not sure if it is better or worse when you did not dig into the bottom end of the motor LOL.
This is @CharlieBenson2 (IG) VMP Gen 2 that we did a ton of work too! Made good power and let me tell you this car is a BEAST on the street. The low-end pull of the VMP is fantastic.

My 03 Cobra has 2.3L whipple Gen2 with 3.0 upper and 4 lb lower running with 650whp & 600wtq. Bigmouth(LFP) throttle body & JLT intake with SCT2600 MAF, 63LB Siemens Deka injectors. Factory exhaust manifold running into Mac Prochamber and Borla Stinger catback. 3.73 rear gearing really makes it a blast to run on the street! Driveline has McLeod RXT clutch with T56 Magnum 6 speed tranny. Love your videos!!!

Nice runs. VMP cobras are awesome. My tuner wouldnt let me change plugs with the head being hot. I guess if you are careful the threads will be safe.

So which better for 590 to 600 hours power cobra is the vmp or Whipple thanks
@midnight347

Vmp hands down imo. The 2.3 is superior to Whipple 2.3. The 2.9 might barely make more peak power but less torque and imo it won't be as fun on the street. Even a 2.9 has trouble making much more than a vmp 2.3. A 2.65 vmp owns. If you want 600 rwhp I'd go with a vmp gen2r 2.3 tvs. A 2650 can get you well over 650 on 93 with the right setup i.e. supporting mods.
@ApexxPredator1
@ApexxPredator1 5 жыл бұрын
I got my 2.65 get 3 VMP with a 3.3 (18 PSI) pulley in and am waiting to save some money up to get installed. If my cobra can push 610 hp I'll be happy.

Gen 2 would do better than that.
@midnight347
@midnight347 3 жыл бұрын
What did you make? 600 is easily doable on 2.3 on pump gas. You should easily top that with the 2.65 imo

@@wizzjo1nt5 there is alot to it more than just this blower does this this blower does that. The overall setup can vary numbers greatly. For example say you have a fbo max effort 2.3 setup it's up over 600 on 93. Then you got a 2650 car with a stock throttle body, smaller intake, stock headers, and running on 91. It might see similar peak numbers because the overall setup isn't as optimal. All things equal same car same engine same day same dyno a 2650 is easily 50+ rwhp higher than a 2300 and the more max effort the setup is (i.e. e85 or race gas and built motor with more compression + Cama etc) the wider the gap gets between them. 2300 is a good performer but the 2650 makes more period.

I got a similar build going on, VMP 2.3 gen 2, jlt high boost, VMP Fuel and MAD upgrade kit, UPR Iddlers and 3.0 upper. I’m still running the stock throttlebody though, do you think it’s worth upgrading to a GT 500 with the big elbow, Or just stick with the normal VMP elbow and go with a smaller throttlebody

I'll be taking my 03 to vmp on Nov 19th. 2.3 Gen 1 with 56lb inj, ba3000, jlt high boost, accufab single blade, bap and a 2.8" upper with stock lower. Expecting around the same numbers. What mods are on the car?
@StreetcarShenanigans
@StreetcarShenanigans 6 жыл бұрын
depending on the fuel pump you will be finding the edge of those injectors at normal pressures. This is a gen 2 with 3.0 upper and stock sized lower. Made about 16.5 psi through most of the pull except the last few hundred rpm started to rise. It is a slot style MAF, gt500 throttle body, twin 400's, division rails, 80lb injectors. I think you will be knocking on the door of an undersized fuel system. Let us know the Results!!

i was looking at getting the whipple in 2.9 but it seem the 2.3 is fine. what you think the 2.9 will do with good fuel? or is it worth the extras?? @ over 600whp seem like 2.3 is enough will do a cam so will get close to 700whp. 2.9 maybe 800??
@StreetcarShenanigans

Cams, long tunes, e85 or better and you would be fighting to get there with the 2.3 I feel. 2.9 seems to get there though.

Good video and nice car! Glad to see a benchmark of a car that's almost equivalent to my setup and I just had dyno work done. The last pull here is what mine made on the 2.8 with torco at 15deg, and the 3.0" pulls on mine almost mimicked these. I'm gonna put a couple more degrees in both pulley files (currently 13.5 and 15 deg respectively) and that should bump the torque up a bit. Enjoy the setup, it's lotsa fun!

@midnight347 3 жыл бұрын
Ported eaton? Technically the vmp blowers use the eaton tvs 2300 rotors in them in a much better than most case...when you say ported eaton most think of the stock blower. This is NOTHING like the stock blower and better in every way. Vmp got some badass blowers.
