@oney135 Yes, you do get the 5-lug with the new GT5000, and you're right about the other GT's. Good thing to see. Apparently, the Spicer 7800 that's marketed as ground engaging/ heavy duty has a larger diff gear and casing, seems to be the thing that sets is apart from the other boxes. They must have done something with the insides too.

Paid 500 to make it mine, then spent maybe another 100 or so on two spindle shafts/ bearings and head gaskets (had to do them last summer).

@ils360 Yea, AYP used that frame up to around '04. Then they used only hydro after that and the frame doesn't have that "saddle" in the middle of the floor (where the shifters used to be).

@amtrobia Thanks. It's newer than the stuff we normally find.

@oney135 The newer 6 speed trans you refer to is a Spicer-built unit made for small riding mowers. Light-duty stuff. The 5-lug hubs aren't there either. Look up the parts diagrams. It's sad. Basically, when Husqvarna started running the show, they ditched the old heavy Hi/Lo Roper trans. The only way you get a half decent tractor from Sears now is to buy a top-of-the-line machine with a Hydro Gear.

I just paid 650 for mine. 50" deck, 22HP Briggs & Stratton. Motor in great shape! Good maintenance. Body in decent shape. However I just noticed that the deck is oddly tilted forward, and I can't find the right adjustment to level it out.
@richardbrady28182 жыл бұрын
If you read owners manual, adjusting deck it recommends the front being 1/4 to 1/2in lower

How did it run for you
@suchfunstuff5 жыл бұрын
It ran pretty well, eventually I did have to replace the carburetor at one point. It just wouldn't run quite right with the factory carb.
@johnkomosa950816 күн бұрын
Mine, is the same as yours, the interior carb gasket gets smashed and partially plugs 4 holes, making it run rich, replace that gasket folks, and the 1/2" o-ring near the gas shut off solenoid, mine looked good on the o D. But the i.d. of the o-rings was rotting and dry rot cracked like they get. Cheers, keep up the good work fellas.

Sounds like a worn cam gear knocking

The camera I used for these older vids tended to pick up the higher frequency sounds (machine noise).

GT5000s came with either Kohler Command or Briggs. Also Hydro or 6sp Gear Trans. Just depended upon the individual configuration ~
@johnkomosa950816 күн бұрын
Yep, I have the 22 h.p. els725 Briggs, you have to keep an eye on the 5 th gap on the rocker arm clearance, check it carefully and "feel" it as well as feeler gage, bring it around and check again 2 or 3 times. Easy to get at , and keep from dropping a pushrod!. Some recommend checking the .005" gap once a year.
