The computer is showing code 0705 Short In Transmission Range Switch Circuit
Removed, cleaned and replaced.
So far 4 days without the Service Engine Light coming back on

So...loosen the center arm nut and check that the shifter still says neutral before proceeding. Thanks for the tips and nut sizes. I've been using cardboard creepers since my first car. Double wall was a score! I've seen those car ramps crush under the weight of cars and others mess up the plastic under the front. I recommend a heavy duty pair of jack stands instead, and Never trust that a hydraulic jack will hold the car up with you under it.

My ramps rated 5k lbs each started to deform in all 4 corners with my expedition. I was trying to get the air out of the coolant after a few flush and fills from the radiator to the petcock so I wanted the radiator cap to be the highest point.

Was your truck shifting hard too? Mine was and then I did a drain & fill and it did great for a few months but all the sudden it’s been super rough again. Wonder if it’s this sensor.

BTW, where I come from, those cheapo ramps seen here are called suicide ramps because, being unreinforced, they can collapse -- hopefully not on someone.

How did you align the lines up so it can be in neutral that was a very important part of repair...nevermind i used a house key to line it up

Thanks for sharing this video. Question, when you install the unit, its in neutral right, but did you turn it to park? I mean, I assume when you started working on your car the gear is in park - correct?

From what I understand it could very well affect it. The transmission sends a serial number to the computer. You can get the computer reprogrammed. I think it cost around $150-$300 depending on where you send it.

It went from barely on to ON. Guess i need to use my imagination. I used a washer and the nut to put the switch on but it doesnt go back far enough for the shift lever.

My 2011 shift indicator on the column doesn’t mark the R orange and won’t engage reverse.. same thing with the manual 1-2 but all the others mark orange then engage.. any thoughts

Depending on how bad the sensor is. It may report that you are in a gear that you’re not in and the transmission will shift unexpectedly into a different gear. Sometimes if it’s not detecting that you’re in park it will not start at all
