The forgotten Michigan fuel gamble race. Most people remember Jeremy Mayfield in 2005, Mark Martin's failure in 1993 and triumph of 2009.

I was there with my dad and grandfather that day as a 9 year old kid! This is the race where Jimmy Spencer knocked the hell out of Kurt Busch in the garage after the race and nowadays whenever someone asks me who was the driver that punched Kurt, I tell them it was Spencer in this race along with the exact date and it impresses everyone every time! Never forget!

I miss those days when a tiny field filler team like Haas (at the time) or CLR Racing could pull off a great qualifying effort out of nowhere. RIP Jason Leffler.

No consistency in 2003 (lots of wrecks and blown engines). Other than that, Newman's had good but not great years.

He had a major advantage early on in his career with him and Matt Borland being engineers. Everyone accused them of cheating when in reality they were just smarter than everyone else.
