The last race of the Winston Cup era, Richard Petty jumps into a stock car for the first time since his 1992 run for at least a few pace laps for the final victory lap honoree, Kenseth blows his engine and since he already clinched the title it did not matter. I miss Winston Cup and it will still and always be Winston Cup in my mind, no matter who sponsors it.

The fact that Bill Elliott was the race leader on the final lap and he had problems and Bobby Labonte took the lead and won the race. It reminds me of the 2001 Napa 500 when Jerry Nadeau was leading on the final lap till he ran out of gas and Bobby took the lead and got the win.

36:36-37:17 those lasts moments though. I cant believe how fast and how sad time flies... So sad to see Winston and Pontiac leave NASCAR after they revolutionized the sport to what it has become today. Also at 2:31:28 Unocal 76 leaving NASCAR after joining the sport as the official fuel since the very beginning! Also at 2:30:13 ONE LAST CUE THE DUCK! And finally 2:22:59 One last NASCAR Winston Cup Memory. Last true race, and Kenseth became the last true champion. In auto racing, points and consistency should matter most, not wins. He won the title by the system being based on total points for every race of the year, and not having to reset the points with 10 races to go. End Of An Era. RIP NASCAR (1948-2003)

Seven different drivers won championships in the 2010s. I'd say that's pretty exciting, don't you? In addition, four of the drivers from 1999-2003 had clinched their championships with one race to go. NASCAR implemented the Chase for the Cup to make sure that would never happen again.

2023 is drawing near. Hard to believe that Kevin and Kurt are the last 2 racers from the Winston era that are still around. A shame that Kevin hasn't truly been happy with all the bs regarding the Gen-7 car's design flaws and Kurt getting screwed at Pocono. But who knows what might happen next year? Maybe both Kevin and Kurt choose to hang it up for good at the end of 2023. Perhaps Kurt quits but Kevin stays for one more season. Things change...
