Changed the clutch on my daughter's car and sure ain't as easy as you make it look but all went well thanks to you and saved her £650. Dad's time is free, especially when you're a pensioner. Thank you very much Mr Williams, you deserve every penny you get and more. None of your clients will appreciate just how much work and knowledge goes into what you do especially when it rains, as it did today. Still enjoyable work though.

Amazing Video Sir! I just finished my clutch replacement on my Polo 9N 1.4 FSI AXU 2002 successfully thanks to your video! Yes there were a lot of screws that did not want to open and you made it look very easy ;) Without the Rustremover I would have had a much harder time. Thank you so much you saved a german engineering student a lot of money :) Here are some tricks that helped me for the next people: 1. Check the tools you need and buy them otherwise you will have a hard time. I had to buy the Multi-tooth nuts and the inbus 19 for the transmission oil outlet and the clutch centering tool 2. At minute 33:58 this small thin black ring (which is barely visible in the video) is supposed to be on top of this golden ring to keep all these parts in place. If this black ring sits right at the gearing, you will not be able to get it in. That one took me some minutes to notice. I wish you great succes on your clutch replacement guys! Cheers from Germany, Daniel

Hi. First thank you for the upload it was enough information for this job. I have just changed my polo 2005 1.2 e clutch. (first clutch change in my life) and let me share with you some of my experience. I have to say you all deserve your money for this job as it is hell of a training for one man (on the ground) . - For anyone who will start it now be prepared when you lifting off the big part from the engine it will be freaking haevy for one man - some of you is asking if you need to change the transmission oil. I skipped that step and when i took of the big part i was full of oil, so i would take if i do it again + it will reduce the weight of the part - the process for me 1.2 e was almost the same except the clutch pedal lines in the engine bay and its parts and also under the starter the "cable holder" only came off if i removed the sensor from the exhaust first. - it was complicated for me to put back that "smaller part" ( i dont know the name 😅) of the gearbox as it has a strong spring and i only could tighten the screw in if i was pushing that part with a crow bar at the same time. (was shouting a lot that time as it was the last step...). Took me about 10 hours in 2 days. Only because i didnt have the 12 point socket that was needed to take of the clutch disc (it was 12 point socket size 9) If something else comes in my mind i will share here.

Hi Kevin, brilliant video as usual! You do an excellent job setting up all your camera angle with good lighting and focus, hats off to you! Question: is it essential to remove the gearbox fluid? If so, did you just replace it with the oil you took out? Also... Is it essential to remove the driveshaft connections to the gearbox in order to get it out? What for do you take out this part of drive shaft from the gearbox in 5:45 min? And one more question. In this type of clutch slave cylinder when you don't disconnect the fluid hoses you don't need to bleed the system right? Thanks for the video and for the answer 😀
@oscarmontero57244 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, if not, it is difficult to reach next bolt. Besides, he uses that bolt as a guide when inserting the gearbox, if I am not wrong... The slave cylinder just presses the lever. Interesting mixture of mechanical and hydraulic parts (i prefer the old fashioned cable)

Everything went well, apart from trying to be clever and attempt to remove the gearbox with the RHS prop shaft still attached, which didnt work. I then removed it and got covered in gearbox oil, I guess that answers my previous questions! 1 rounded axle bolt and 2 sheared wishbone bolts later I got there, new bolts collected from scrapyard. @DickHead999 Borat As an additive or as a full volume per box?
@SerjShvediuk4 жыл бұрын
@DickHead999 Borat I see, thank you. I suspected it was a joke. But still, as an engineer, I am interested in many things for myself. I use both an additive in the engine oil and in the transmission the so-called temperature-leveling oil density additive. 220 ml per 4L of oil. It reduces friction and brings the properties of the base oil closer to the synthetic properties. Practice has shown that this is life-saving and cheaper than any pseudo brands in oil. At least in countries such as Ukraine, Russia can to a lesser extent now. And in Belarus. Although Belarus has the lowest number of oil fakes. This is my experience.
