2004-2009 Toyota Prius Engine Swap Engine Replacement Part 2

So I have completed the engine swap. The engine runs fine while in park, but it does not move at all when placed in reverse or drive, and will not go back into park. At that point I just turn off the vehicle. While in reverse, the transmission seems to be making a significant groaning noise, but the vehicle does not move at all. There are no codes generated. Do I need to Techstream to reprogram anything possibly? Not sure what to try next. I have been scouring the net, and haven't turned up much.

@ValleyMobileAutomotive No codes using a basic code reader. I was going to rent Techstream for $70 for 48 hours to see if that reveals something.

@petraxbeanforever5923 That might be helpful. A basic code reader won't read transmission codes only engine codes.

@@petraxbeanforever5923 I was just looking something up for a different comment and came across in service information that a low 12v battery can prevent the transmission from working properly. All the electronics are run from the 12v battery. Maybe double check that it's holding a full charge.

So everything was going fine with the install until i cracked a section of the transmission bell housing clean off, using bolt tightening force. Very sad. The only thing i dont understand is that I had all the bolt threads started, so i dont know what was binding. Am i correct in thinking that the alignment is good if i was able to start every single mounting bolt? Obviously I made an error, I just dont know what it was. Any ideas?

@@petraxbeanforever5923 It's possible the splines on the transmission weren't sliding in the flywheel completely. Depending on how big the chunk is that's missing it may be ok without that one bolt but that would be your call.

​@@ValleyMobileAutomotive Turned out to be too many male dowels. I was trying to crank a male dowel into a male dowel. I removed one of the dowels with channel locks and that solved the problem.

Hi I replaced I driven for 20miles I got the po341 camshaft and immediately crankshaft is there any wrong step I have done to get this codes

@@naveenkantipudi2651 It's possible the camshaft position sensor or wiring are bad. I would first do a visual inspection of the connector and wiring harness. If everything looks good then try a good quality position sensor.

How does the engine mate with the transmission? Is it just a matter of lining up the bolts?

@@drandystream891 The engine block has two dowels that line up with two holes on the transmission. Once those are lined up the bolts will fall into place 👍
