Yes, the factory headunit and navigation unit are attached to the same bracket, and come out together as one unit.

Not sure exactly what you're asking, but if you're asking what trim is used to house the aftermarket radio, it's the JDM DDin trim: Nissan Part number for Navigation Aluminum Trim 68260-7W010 Nissan Part number for Non-Nav Aluminum Trim 68260-7W000 Nissan Part number for Single-Zone AC Controller 27500-AC500 Nissan Part number for Dual-Zone AC Controller 27500-AC505

It should be noted that the automatic needs to be in neutral for the trim to slide up and off of the gear selector. This can be seen in the video, but isn't directly stated. 0:44

Mostly correct. The Metra trim kit can be used with navigation with a little modification for either 03-04 or 05-07. The JDM kit for 03-04 works with navigation without modification. For 05-07, there is a JDM double-din navigation trim available, but the only place I know of that can get it is Grubb's Infinti. The non-navigation 05-07 JDM double-din kit can be modified (as the one in the video is) to fit by cutting off 1/8th of an inch from the top.

@carliux99 There is a block that moves the shifter position indicator with a hole for the shaft of the shifter on the trim. Make sure that the shaft goes through the middle of it.

Thanks a million for posting this. i just got a 2007 infiniti g35 coupe and ill be changing ot over to a doubledin radio soon i hope. But im glad i found this cuz for some reason its missing the cig lighter plug thingy and i want to do that first

No, just the steps up until 1:53, then 2:27 to 3:06. You'll clearly see the screws holding the trim onto the radio bracket. Those screws are on the left and right sides of the radio, and bright silver/brassy colored. The harnesses will still be connected, but you will have more than enough room to attach the small pieces of ABS plastic to fill the gap. I only had to attach a single 1/2 inch wide section to the top of the opening to close up the gap.

@MrJamaalshakur This is the JDM kit, they show up on eBay every now and again, but Grubbs Infiniti is the source that has most reliably had them in stock and doesn't charge a ton. Tell 'em thanks for supporting g35drivers.

@uclalaker2009 Only difference with Bose is that you will probably need the PAC ROEM-NIS2 in place of the normal wiring harness. Some (including myself) have had ok results with the Metra 70-7551 (or equivalent) but a much greater percentage have had to use the ROEM-NIS2 to have the Bose amplifier work properly.

@littleshooterone the nav buttons are separate, just remove the screws in the back. Important thing is to get the trim kit from grubbs infiniti that it's made to fit a navigation equipped vehicle. They are the only place I've found that carries the right part. If you need more help check out g35driverdotcom. I have a very thorough thread under the same name there in the audio video forums.

@Wrathernaut It looks like you may have the exact same Pioneer head unit as me and the same issue with the gap around the head unit and the fact the it sits a bit sunken in. I'd like to customize a sheet of abs plastic to put around the inside of the dash piece to cover the gap. In order to remove that one piece of the dash do I have to follow all of these steps?

Do they make the one that has the navi/climate buttons? I literally pulled so hard on that piece under the shifter that can be pulled "up and away" that I dented my fingers. That piece will no budge. Is there something I'm missing? Popped all the clips. Is it different in a g35x?

Youd need to buy the JDM double din kit which would run you around $350 just for the kit. This is the kit that came on the Japan version of this car and any other aftermarket din kit might not fit the navi equipped vehicles perfectly.

Nope, just be careful when removing the trim pieces so you don't lose any of the clips. The white clip pieces tend to get stuck on the dash side, and are a little tricky to remove - use needle-nose pliers with a GOOD trip on them, or you're liable to push them completely through, or drop them into the abyss of the dashboard.

The radio and climate controls are on the same board, which is attached to the trim. When you remove the trim, you're done with the original climate controls. No need to remove any knob, ever.

The climate controls are combined with the radio controls, so you'd still need the Japanese climate control board. It is possible to cut a big hole in it for the radio. The factory radio cage/bracket does connect well to most aftermarket radios, but in order to get it flush with the trim, you'll probably have to drill new holes in the factory radio cage.

You have to remove the rear deck panel, which requires removing the C-pillar trim, and a fair portion of the rear seats too.

Double din IS the size. The screen size is 6" in the auto, 7" in the manual.

So long as you disconnect the side clips, it's really just lifting. Try and reach under the shifter base trim as far as possible before you start lifting.
