I've been watching more and more of your videos. Top notch workmanship! If I were to buy a new RV I'd bring it to you for a proper roof! However I know better then to buy any new RV! I'll stick with the older cheap ones with aluminum siding and will keep up on the roof! Awesome workmanship!!!

so you are puting new wood over the existing wood? How does that not create a height difference problem with termination bars?

I have a 2003 lance, just like this, same problems, it will be coming your way soon, what does a rebuild like this cost? I don’t think my camper is quite this bad but I want to prepare for the worst

Like the engineering. Fit and finish.. Using flashing on roof vents? Older Lance campers roofs had hardly any convex to them. Original seals around all areas except A/C require inspection (end of Summer). Effectively like a flat roof house you should be able to have slight amounts of puddled water . Roof Flashing around vents and commercial/residential self peircing /rubber gasket screws on a any decking that is less than 1/2" is defeating. You know, for roof and most camper aluminum framing , self-piercing lath screws (not self tapping) are viable and have coverage (like small washer) , very little crown. Unless it was a Monday ,most Lance campers are sealed very well. Lance has used aluminum I beam supports to interlock block foam roof panels since the late 70's (squire?) .Not having fiberglass batting for roof insulation /construction ? Well you will see a leaking issue quickly. Campers using fiberglass batting insulation, will absorb water like a sponge ,and then release water after fully saturated.Being said , impressed by steel refitting. Lance campers -less than 1" walls , not much to work with. Lance campers are a dominating percentage of truck camper market. Proven bonding agents in their pressure laminating process, combined with great sealing have made them a long lasting campers(mostly). As with any camper not inspected or put in storage ; a non addressed leak can lead to problems.

Lance although tired and marketed as the best, in my opinion, are not. The design of the rear jacks need improvement. This is not the first Lance we have worked on that needed the corner frame rebuilt. Logically it does not make sense to drive a total of 9 screws through a 2x2 within 13 inches and not expect it to split and get compromised. The jacks supporting the camper will rock in the wind and that poor fastening allows for separation where caulk is compromised allowing for moisture at first to sleep in...condensation and such. Once the gap gets breached even more from additional movement, and addition rot more water gets in. Understood that the idea is to build as light as possible however you can only go so light before it just doesn't work. The polystyrene foam adds strength once the ceiling and roof panel are adhered and vacuum sealed, however again...the aluminum 1x1 frame for a span of 8 feet is not strong enough to carry any normal load of snow, ice and the bouncing movement of the AC as it travels. Roofs are not supposed to hold any water. The commercial roof industry define ponding water as water not evaporated within 2 days. Ponding water acts as a magnifying glass and compromises the membrane to premature failure. On a camper there should be no reason for standing / ponding water at all. On comment roofs there is concerns of pollen, leaves and debris that create dams preventing proper drainage which, as you stated , you be inspected at least annually to rid the damning and allow for water flow. Additionally, the ponding water adds weigh to the roof which can create additional sagging. Thanks for watching. Appreciate your input. I have learned that whatever any manufacturer claims to be an upgrade or added benefit for the customer is a guise for them to build quicker and cheaper to benefit the manufacturer solely. I have not found one camper or coach to be any better than another. Remove the decals and you would tell one from the other in build style or quality.

RV manufactures have no codes except for D.O.T. and personal safety...meaning you won't be get electrocuted, hence the GFCI outlets. Otherwise, as long as they are not slinging in parts on the road they're good. I'm sure they see what I uncover. Thanks for watching.

It reminds me somehow that it looks like a carpenter tried to build Frankenstein. It seems like an Rv should be built like a Submarine, never use any wood or any material that can rot or become unstable due to moisture if u build for expected water damage, the eventuality cant harm your Rig.
