Today we will be swapping out my damaged engine on my 06 CBR1000RR. This is basically the same process for the 04 - 07 year models. If you like this type of content, leave a comment, and be sure to like and subscribe!!!

I have a 2004 cbr 1000 with low compression. I did a wet down test and it increased compression. So that means piston rings should I just try to change piston rings or just go to junkyard and change engine? Eather way I'm gonna have to drop the motor
@MotoRiot4 жыл бұрын
@@jonathna11 To be completely honest, If you can find a low mileage engine from an 06-07, I would just do the swap. It will save you money in the long run, trust me
@jonathna114 жыл бұрын
@@MotoRiot ok I'm getting a quote for the swap it's about the same price. Labor and material to just pull one from another bike. I'm considering just having the guy do the swap . Just sucks to see all the parts I bought for that motor go to waste... I will try to sell them on Ebay or somthing idk

@@jonathna11 ya know, I actually pulled a lot of parts off the old motor and put them on the new one. It helped a lot

Thanks for the video... The beautiful $1700 running 14,000 miles motor from eBay has arrived along with the castle nut tool... So excited for the swap this weekend... I learned the hard way that I don't have a race team and constantly red lining it will produce heat and will eventually lead to sending part of the connecting rod through the side of the block and then melt to the inner fairing

i swapped 06 in 3 hours.. advice if you are trying this... peel the harness completly off the engine. I dont even remove the tank. Ive done this a few with 06-07 its super simple. the spanner bolt snap very VERY easily so be careful. also i had a PCV on my engine when it blew. I changed engine and it ran like shit. I removed the PCV and its ran perfect ever since. just FYI
@MotoRiot4 жыл бұрын
good advice, however my question is, how exactly did you remove the engine without removing the tank? you have to get the tank off to get to most of the harness plugs, as well as the fuel lines
@h1k4life714 жыл бұрын
@@MotoRiot no you do not. ive done 3 engine swaps for 2006/07 when you lift the tank. you can get to all of the plugs. its easy
@MotoRiot4 жыл бұрын
@@h1k4life71 Ohhh, well yeah, I could easily just lift the tank. In this case, I took it off just to get it out of the way. I thought you meant you had done it without lifting the tank at all lol

If you attempt this.. remove the battery first! last thing you want is to set somthing on the battery while its exposed.. other than that this is a super easy swapped ive done a couple 06/07 cbrs
@h1k4life714 жыл бұрын
George Parmer I say replace it you can get an engine for 900-1500$ vs rebuild.. which is actually More expensive than people think you have to replace all the TTY bolts and if you do one thing wrong the whole thing is bad. We just tore apart 2 of our 2007 cbr1000 engines.. the one that had rod knock had gouges in the sleeve beyond repair. It was a complete waste. I say buy one. Before you install it do valve clearance check it’s much MUCH easier than doing it while the engine is in the bike. Then just drop the engine in and go

MotoRiot not gona lie I don’t have much experience working on engines, my buddy swapped it for me, he’s saying it runs shitty because it needs to be retuned becaue after u swap with a power commander u haveto reset it idk 🙃😢

What is the Newest model CBR1k engine that will fit in a 06-07 model CBR1k if yu wanted to swap?
@MotoRiot Жыл бұрын
So im not sure if any models newer than 07 would bolt up, but any engine from 04 to 07 will work. I may have seen someone use a 2012 motor in their 07 frame but youd have to research it further.
@Daisho289 Жыл бұрын
@@MotoRiot I appreciate the feedback bc research has been pretty rough, my goal is 198mph+ , do yu have any recommendations for achieving this speed without turbo or boost for a 06-07?
@MotoRiot Жыл бұрын
@@Daisho289 You're likely not gonna get past 180 on this platform without a serious engine build, tuning, and proper gearing. With boost you would likely want to build the engine anyways

What tools do you recommend I’m trying to do this on my 2004
@MotoRiot3 жыл бұрын
Set of wrenches, set of metric sockets, set of allen keys, screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, wire strippers, some specialty sockets, and a special tool called a Honda Castle Nut wrench. I might be missing something but those are most of what you will need

Hi...great vid. Will an 03 engine fit the chasis of an 07?

MotoRiot I got an 04 cbr1krr I can’t find the same year engines tbh I can find like 07 or 08 engines but that’s pretty much it. Idk whether they’ll fit.... also thinking of doing a engine overhaul/rebuild instead of swapping. Idk. Don’t have the engine out idek what’s wrong with it. Literally got a blown engine for a dealer but they didn’t tell much info... doesn’t seem like these a gaping hole in the block tho so that’s a good sign right?
@MotoRiot4 жыл бұрын
@@vadimkovalev8155 The 04 to 07 engine is basically the same. You could get a motor from any of those years and it would work in your frame. The only thing is that some of the sensor plugs are different, but there are many many forums on the topic of that particular swap. It is much cheaper, quicker, and easier to just swap the engine rather than try to rebuild it. You need to know what the hell you are doing if you rebuild it, but I would say anyone could do a simple swap.

Hey I actually bought this exact bike (previous owner showed me this video) probably 9 months or so ago. Can you please tell me a bit about the bike and the mileage of the engine you put in. Appreciate it.
