At sub $40k USD, can a 6 speed manual first gen Aston Martin V8 Vantage provide a better sportscar experience than a Porsche? Or do you need to be 007-rich to afford the maintenance? / zygrene

Hey mate can you try and review a chevy ss like the white one at 10:08, would really like to hear your perspective. It would probably be hard to get your hands on one though.

Evora is harsh? What? It rides like a grandma's couch, especially the NA version that glides over everything, GT is firmer but still doesn't beat you up in any way.

It's definitely an engine that you want to rev out. People don't want to drive it like a sports car, but if you do, it really comes alive. Transaxle for 49/51 F/R weight distribution, dry sump oil to allow for a very low and far back engine location, all aluminum chassis with aluminum double wishbones all around, it's a sports car at heart. Interesting that the car had no steering feel. Mine has great feel. You can feel tire grip level and there's texture. It's no Lotus, but it's great. I wonder if it was the tires or something else wrong with that particular car. You should push it or drive a second one, it turns into a rewarding experience.

Don’t agree on the aerodynamic part as drag is better than F430, on par downforce along with c6 zr1, and same downforce. Comparing with 599 and 575, Vantage has better cda and downforce. This is per sportauto.

I have a 2006 V8 Vantage with 41,000 miles on it. I got it when it had 12,000 miles on it. If someone offered me $100 k…. I’d have to consider selling it but in the end I am pretty sure I would not sell it…. I love it.

from an owner of this model and year, i have to say this is a pretty fair assessment of the car. nice place to be, very quiet, nice engine note, beautiful. handling and feel? a little numb compared to a porsch cayman. but then again, what car isn't? the only way a porsche can rival the interior of the standard vantage interior is to get the "full leather" option on a porsche. i test drove a 2007 cayman with that full leather option and it was nice....verrrrry nice.

Tell the owner his airbag is rattling, I can hear it over bumps. They make small o-rings, very easy to add and it solidifies the rattling.
@deep6thisdeep6this923 жыл бұрын
if you're talking about the airbag on the steering wheel, then i am familiar with the problem. it seems that some 2007 models left the factory without the o-rings that were part of the design. i bought a couple for the outrageous price that aston wanted for them and that fixed the problem. i think there was either a video or a text explanation on a forum that showed me how to do it. i had temporarily fixed it by jamming a small piece of rubber between the horn and spoke of the steering wheel (not a along term solution!).

It’s subjective, but i don’t like Aston interiors in general. They use nice leather, but the design and the switchgear are not aesthetically pleasing to my eyes. In terms of exterior, can’t really fault it. Super stylish. But I do feel all astons from this period look too similar to each other. Like you, I enjoy looking at them from time to time, but most likely wouldn’t buy one, with exception of the v12 version.

Id tune it to make more power and add some coilovers. Muffler delete would wake up that v8 noise

Beautiful car and sound. Weren't these a little Ford parts back then? So cheapish for some parts?
@deep6thisdeep6this923 жыл бұрын
ferrari, lamborghini use a lot of cheapish fiat parts. even exotic car manufacturers don't waste money designing bespoke parts for common items brakes, starter motors, HVAC, latches and electronic parts. mostly it's just the body panels, frame and interior parts. even motors are now becoming a commodity.

I feel bad for this guy, wearing a mask like that just screams he is living in fear, I hope he is not high risk, which by his age range, it’s likely he is not, and if that is the case, he really needs to check the statistics.
