Louie didn't invent any of this stuff, but he popularized it and made it known here in the US. This stuff was being used by Eastern European athletes back in the 1970s and earlier. There used to be a home gym back in the early 1980s that used "weight straps" as the accomodating resistance called Soloflex. Weight straps were basically heavy-duty rubber bands, which provided exactly the same muscle recruitment that these bands today create, except they were more compact and specifically designed for that particular home gym. Soloflex was eventually overtaken by a company called Bowflex, which you may have heard of. However, I think Soloflex's idea of the weight straps was FAR superior for accomodating resistance, but the Bowflex machine had a better marketing campaign and eventually put Soloflex out of business.

This is why speed work is so important. If you are fast and explosive when the strength curve is at its greatest it will help carry you to lockout and through your sticking point

Anyone who just ignores Westside principles or thinks there's nothing valuable here for raw or natural lifters need to pay closer attention. There are so many gems contained in Louie's methods, you just have to notice them and adapt them to your training. Westside is a philosophy as much as it is a training method.

Movement is necessary for healing. That's why ribs heal faster than any other bone, they can't isolate ribs.
