If anyone is watching this to learn about the C55 and potentially debating a purchase...go watch other videos, this one is filled with misinformation and there are much better and more accurate reviews on KZbin.

@@tanmantacomama8851 Few things. The car is not around 3,900lbs, it's around 3,600 lbs. You don't have to wait weeks for parts, pretty much all parts besides the specific body parts related to the front end are widely available and transferable between M113 engines, which are plentiful. I don't doubt that there may be a few parts in the entire car that would take a while, but waiting weeks for parts is not a common experience among C55 owners. You can cut the resonator and secondary cats and still pass CA smog (I live in CA, I haven't done this but I do have a tune and shorty headers that pass smog fine). The car does have sport and comfort driving modes that do NOT change throttle response, they change the transmission behavior. While you have a lot of torque down low, the AMG NA M113 feels great from 4500 rpm to 6000 rpm and does reward you to rev it out. It's actually interesting that the V8 sounds more American below 3k RPM and then transitions to a more European note when you rev it out. Finally, the C55 is pretty nimble. It's not comparable to lightweight Japanese vehicles, but compared to an S4 or M3 or the era, it's only got a bit more understeer and can carve canyons pretty well.

E46 M3 is a great car but hard to compare. But talk to me once the vanos takes a dump or when the DSG transmission decides to start acting up. That's when you really appreciate the reliability of the C55's drivetrain. Good video anyway. There aren't many reviews on this car on youtube surprisingly. PS...the owner should consider buying car parts online like everyone else has mentioned.

Owner is not very bright, just order parts online dude, you don't have to go through the dealer and power steering lines don't have to be oem to be oem quality. You have several options when going for quality besides oem, there are a few German and European manufacturers out there that produce some top notch parts for German cars. Plus you having to wait for the German part is most likely your dealership making money off of you by special ordering from Germany. I have a w210 e55, which is identical drivetrain to the c55 and it's been one of the easiest cars to find parts for.
@BigUriel7 жыл бұрын
Most of the bad things you hear about maintaining german cars is precisely from people who'll take their car to the dealer to replace the brake pads. And the dealers in the US seem particularly keen on ripping people off, even the original OEM parts can often be bought online for a fraction of what they charge.

The shame of this car is that it wasn't any faster than the C32. I had both at one point and it was always a toss up in the 1/4. The C55 would come through about 1-2 mph faster than the C32 with time difference .1 to .2 The C32 is better in my opinion because you could just smash down the gas with little or no wheel spin. The C55 has enough torque that you have to watch the throttle right off the line to get good traction. I like the "M" mode in the C55 which won't auto-shift on redline. If I remember correctly, it also wouldn't auto down shift like the new MCT. I did notice braking a little better on the C32. Not sure if that was due to the extra weight in the front from that V8. I like the exhaust note of the C55, but it's nothing like the C63. I don't agree with this guy about waiting weeks for parts. Only if it was something very rare.
@FrankW10297 жыл бұрын
FirearmTutorials .com I had the c32 for 15 years, the 55 does handle better. Weight of the engine actually varies very little because the supercharger sitting on top of the 32's engine. I recently just sold the 32 and got a F10 535 tho. I'd love to get a c55 in the future because I know the w203 inside and out and it'll be a fun car to have again.
