I did a transmission flush on my 2002 Buick Regal & it’s like the Grand Prix but I had 79,000km when I got the car & I did a transmission fluid flush because I don’t know if anything has been properly maintained but now I feel that my transmission feels like a punch I feel that my shift solenoid is bad

My wife and I got the base model. Trying to look ahead for any possible repairs I might need to make to it in the near future. I bought it from a owner who put 112K miles on it. Mostly highway since he lives out of town. He kept it in his driveway since he upgraded to a bigger vehicle. There are no engine lights on. Which in my opinion doesn't matter, since everything eventually breaks down. He hasn't done nothing to it except basic maintenance. OIl change, tire rotation. I read recently on another site that brakes are a common problem people seem to replace. but I was probably thinking they race it around town and wear and tear them down at stop lights and signs. We are not planning on racing it around. So. my question is (to all and any Grand Prix owners)= besides the brakes, any other common problems I might encounter? this will be mainly a intown car, job commuter vehicle.
@hakeemsd70m2 жыл бұрын
To add to the transmission, make sure to flush and replace the transmission fluid every 30-40K miles, or whatever the owner's manual says. Also, the 3800 V6 is prone to coolant leaks from the intake manifold gaskets, so replacing the factory ones might be a good idea. I had the lower intake manifold gasket leak coolant onto the throttle body on my 2005 Grand Prix GT and had the gaskets replaced for about $700. Sucks, I know. But other than that, the 3800 V6 is bulletproof reliable.

I have a 2004 grand prix with 333882 kms. haven't had any major issues with it for the 2 years I've had it. one time all the coolent leaked out and I noticed it was on max temp and I was like ohhhhhh. if you want to hit the emergengy brake you just have to push your foot down hard where you were when you said you werent sure if it works. The cruise control is on the left and it works beautifully in that car, also the whole car turns into a bed. The trunk is huge and it all folds down making a massive sleeping space with the seats going flat. Also, if the gas cap was open, the sensors will tell you and thars why you have to drive about 20 miles to reset it. That way you can pass a smog test. The computer in these cars are genious. But like i said, you will have to replace the window motors, button decals, and spoiler. It seems to be made of a different cheaper material. also I have to step on my gas when I start my car.

I drive still today a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am 3.4 V6 it just hit 16 years old only has 145,000 Kilometres on it. It’s in I’d say 85% condition so not 100% perfect but I’ve had too fix some things because of age. If I get another car it’ll be a Grand Prix cause I like those too.

i too have a 2008 base model 3800 series engine and love it. I prefer the quiet sound of the 3.8L, versus the more powerful and louder 5.3L, that doesn't get as good of gas mileage (of course) and have heard to be more repair prone? Wouldn't mind the heated, leather seats and sunroof of the gxp, but that extra power, would have me in traffic court, LOL. Oh, yeah, what were they thinking, putting the power steering fluid cap in such an hard to reach spot???
@jacobfountain80632 жыл бұрын
@@keithminor141 There's an easy trick to getting to your power steering reservoir; unscrew the two nuts holding your coolant overflow bottle. Theyre on the top of the strut tower. (be careful not to tip it over as it can pour out even with the cap on) and just gently lift up and out of the way. Then you'll have all the room to get to the cap and you can check the fluid level. You'll thank me later! 👍
