Check this out guys! Before taking anything out test your air pumps. Bypass the power by running some wire directly to the battery. Listen to the pump when you power it, if it sounds clear and clean you are good. If it sounds sick , you may need to replace them. Next, take your diverter valves off and take them apart just like in the video. I cleaned mine with a toothbrush and gas. All but the plastic part, just the metal moving part. Remember how you took it apart and put it back just the same.... This was the fix for me. Saved myself $2300. That is what the dealership wanted to charge me just for the diverter valves. I asked them how much for just the parts? $2000 he says.....Force my hand.. NOT! Thanks for the video Jen Son!

do the diverter valves require new gaskets once removed? My check engine etc. lights come on then go off after a week or so. Some suggested I clean the valves, probably rust causing the problem...thanks

Have a 2012 tacoma code 2445 There a recall on the pumps ok Toyota will pay for it 👍

I have been dealing with this problem for about a month. I am not a mechanic. Total repair bill is $2,460. I know a Toyota mechanic who would do it for about $1,800, but have no recourse with him. I broke down and authorized the repair with the repair shop. I knew I was getting screwed, but didn't know about the recall. Anyway, thanks.@@rudysantana9542

This video helped me out a lot with my 2007 TT 4 cyl. Also, it will come out if you just bend the curved pipe back a little bit, without having to take the heat shield out.

Great video. I hear a noisy sound like vaccum when starting my car in cold starting . After searching I found that sound is related with secondary air pump so I followed tips to investigate... 1. When my car is cold, I removed the pipe goes from the air pump to the valve and noticed the noisy sound is gone and heard the normal pump sound as I've heard before. Then I plugged the pipe, sound came again. It's a stuck valve. Now, Could I completely delete the stuck valve ?

Could have cleaned with carburetor fluid and would have been as good as new. Cleans all that gunk and cake off. But nice pointers and tips taking all that off and put it back on easier then other videos. Thanks to you!

Just run 2 wires from the battery to the solenoid. + & - shouldn't make any diff. On the motor will go in reverse if not connected + & -.

You are so brave..I saw another video where water collects in the rubber bottom of the housing to the motor..the mechanic wiped it dry, then drilled a small weep hole so it could drain and no longer collect water. In freezing temp can damage the motor. I think I can manage that but too chicken to remove the valve part from the motor to clean. Oh bother. Chickens have to pay huge to a mechanic for parts and labor, unless I test or listen to motor with stethescope to see if running. Drill hole or use thumb tack to create the weep hole and let drain into a towel. Then try to fish finger in part with the valve or blow into the hose the see if I can hear the valve click. Could save mega bucks. Not cheap to replace. Serv reps, drool when they see the p2445 code.
