I just bought my daughter a 2011 Sante Fe with the 3.5L V6. with 167k miles on it. So as a concerned dad I did all the normal stuff. New oil and filter change, new air filter, new cabin air filter, fuel injector and gas treatment etc. Then I said: "With 167k I better change the spaek plugs just to be on the safe side." Then when I saw what was involved I went: "No way is someone going to go through all that trouble just to put in fresh plugs as a precaution. So I bet they have NEVER been changed. I was right! WHAT A GREAT VIDEO! and what a stupid design by Hyundai to do all that to get to just 3 plugs in back while the front three can all be done in less than 10 minutes. I had a V6 Fiero and same thing 3 plugs were close to impossible to get to by the firewall and the front three (actually the back three towards the trunk were a super breeze. And those were just a matter of getting to them. This was on a while other level! So from a dad trying to make sure his little girls ride is up to snuff I SAY THANK YOU!!!

Also you might want to remind people that after removing the throttle body it would be a good time to clean it before installing it.

Hi, I love your contents thank you for this kindda videos. I do have same Santa Fe with same engine. But on that engine there is no hose over intake manifold to air box. What is what hose for? And I am using shell 5w40 as our climate is hot and Hyundai Service center used it from we bought it in 2011. Engine do not have any problem. Just It has rattle sound a bit on startup. I think it is cvvt.

I have 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport V6 3.5L, on cold start the car starts rough but when the engine hot the car starts fine. What's the cause of the problem?
@hyundaitech
@hyundaitech Жыл бұрын
What do you mean runs rough? Like a misfire rough? With cold start up misfire looks like turbulence inside the cylinder, like coolant seeping, injector slightly dripping. I would suggest if you have scantool to pinpoint or monitor misifre counter, if its really misfiring and theres a specific cylinder i would check the spark plug and how they look at.

If you have the budget yeah you can, if not maybe just do the 3 coils on the back atleast if you have a faulty coils in the bacl you dont have to remove the intake again.

Also My daughter's 3.5V6 is throwing a code P0014 which is from the VVT solenoid. I was going to remove and clean it and re-install it and clear the code to see if that fixes the problem. Can you telle where it is located? Ive seen videos on where it is on the 4 cylinders but cant find a single video on exactly where the VVT solenoid is on the the 3.5
@hyundaitech
@hyundaitech 11 ай бұрын
Does the p0014 code showed after the you did the spark plugs? The location will on top of the valve cover, if you are facing the engine its gonna be the back bank (back cylinder head) then its gonna be on the left side of the intake manifold. Hope that helps.
@marvinonstage
@marvinonstage 11 ай бұрын
@hyundaitech the P0014 code was on when I bought the car and after watching your review I thought I just remove and clean. Then with a 167k miles on it, I figured I'd change the plugs since they never have been changed. NOW the car is acting like it is missing and popping like one of the plugs are bad. They are all new NKG plugs. ALL I did is replace the plugs and I've been working on cars since I was 16 so although I'm not an official mechanic I'm a decent shade tree mechanic. I went through and rechecked all the connection and hoses. I took a car that was running fine and turned it to a car that can barely run. I'm hoping that the problem is with one of the front 3 plugs because you have to take everything off the car, intake, airbox, throttle body etc just to get to those back three plugs. Is there a way to test the plugs to see if they are firing correctly without having to put all that stuff back together for the rear plugs. This is for a 2011 Sante Fe with the 3.5L

@@marvinonstage i would suggest to take it to someone else who is capable to diagnose it effeciently, coz if you gonna try it yourself you have to remove both valve covers and check if the timing lines up, if its a reputable shop maybe they will use a oscilloscope and diagnose it correctly.

10, 12, 14 mm sockets. 3/8 extensions different sizes, 3/8 ratchet. Flat screw driver, right angle pick, pliers for the hose clamps. 5/8 spark plug socket. If you want to torque down the spark plug 18ft.lb and then you need torque wrench. I think thats about it.

A mechanic power washed the engine bay of my wife's 2007 Santa Fe. Now the thing misfires like crazy. All 6 cylinders show misfire codes (P0300-P0306). Plus, it has P0082 for Bank 2 intake control solenoid, P0151 for O2 sensor 1 bank 2, cat, evap, O2 sensor, & O2 htr. Any ideas where to start troubleshooting? We initially took it to this local mechanic for an oil leak & the fuel gauge not working. Replacing 1 of the sending units in the fuel tank fixed that issue. They replaced the oil pan gasket and put sealant around the timing chain cover for the oil leak, but power washed the engine bay after the work. We then took it to the Hyundai dealership because of all they error codes & it was now leaking oil worse after the work the local mechanic did. Hyundai said the oil leak was from the valve cover gasket. They replaced the gasket & alternator as part of a recall, but could not fix the misfiring after performing a "spark plug tune up". And the car STILL leaks oil!!
@hyundaitech
@hyundaitech Жыл бұрын
Hi, i think i would start to do visual inspection. And regarding the misfire, i would check the 2 connector of the oxygen sensor. Most of the time if they are not used to this engines they interchange the connector especially with this models since the o2 sensors can be plug in to each bank. I would start there. Let me know

@@hyundaitech They said it was possibly shorts in the wiring harness, but wanted $175/hr to troubleshoot & minimum 3hrs. We've already dumped a ton of money in this car between the local mechanic who caused the misfiring / trouble codes & the Hyundai dealership.
@hyundaitech
@hyundaitech Жыл бұрын
@@duanepatchen6910 so they are not sure that its shorted? Coz if its short problem they should find it. I would suggest to double check the o2 sensors connector near the back of the intake manifold.

@@hyundaitech For checking the O2 sensor connections, do you think they are swapped? Plugged into the wrong ports? Possibly loose connection or corrosion on the pins? Maybe water infiltrated the connectors when power washed?
