My 2009 Silverado LS has been a gem. 130k miles and no issues.

to anyone complaining about gas milage you need to just stop. when you buy a truck dont expect great mpg its a freaking truck not a honda. there for if you want a gas saver get a 4 banger not a 8 cyl. even with the AFM and knocking it down to 4 cyl its still a heavy truck. so please just shut up with your complaining.
@666dynomax8 жыл бұрын
+Ryan Horsley I will chime in a bit on this MPG comment. The 4.8L work truck I have is grossly underpowered. It has less power than the 4.6L ford it replaced. It feels like it is struggling terribly when you ask it to accelerate any harder than an old lady. around town, it gives 21-23L/100km, highway about 18. In contrast, my 5.7 tundra gives me 15 on the highway and 19L/100km in town. Did i mention the tundra doesn't accelerate like it has a 5000lb trailer behind it like the chevy? Anyone looking to buy a used 4.8L chev, there is a reason that motor was canned. Neither truck are good on fuel, but all signs point that the chevy should be better than the tundra. real world mpg is not saying this.

My 2004 Silverado, 5.3 will go past 400 miles on a tank. It will lite up the tires with a stomp on the gas too. Towing my heavy trailer with my bike in it is effortless.My second and the best truck for me. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Its all personal preference. I know plenty of guys who'd never want another truck that didn't have leather seats and in-dash video monitors and all the bells and whistles. I personally would rather save 10k + on that stuff and have a Chevy interior. I've test driven f250s, 350s, and a cummins Ram 2500 and they're very nice, but for me I want a truck to feel like a truck, not a 4x4 luxury car. Nothing wrong with a refined and luxurious truck, but just not my style.

They need to bring back Quad-Steer. That 50 foot turn radius is a pain if you take it to college and turning it in a smaller multi-level car park is often impossible. Love my Chevy Silverado though and that back up camera is they best, partnered with the back-up sensors especially!

I have a 2012 Silverado 1500 extended cab 6.5 bed with a 5.3 and 6L80e transmission bought new in 2012 still runs like new with 168,000 plus miles on it with minimal repairs. I do all of my own maintenance and it has been a great truck! I tuned it and turned off cylinder deactivation at 86,000 miles and changed the ball joints from the cheap factory sealed to Moog with grease fittings at 60,000. Also, changed the stabilizer bars and bushings at around 110,000 and the radiator that was leaking at the crimps at 165,000. Plus changed out the two front window switches and driver's side door handle and have changed the brake pads and shoes once. Other than that I just change the fluids regularly including the differential and it just keeps going strong. The Drivetrain is great in this truck and it has plenty of power. I have a black Texas Edition with the towing package frame hitch etc. and the square-edged chrome20" Chevy wheels. I do have a flowmaster super 44 dualed out at the corners with rounded 45 degree chrome tips and westin pro trax 4 step bars as well auto vent shades that go up inside the track.

I have a black 2011 Silverado 1500 LT which is also a Texas Edition and have purchased it new in 2011. Truck’s got 31k on the clock and that is because it was never nearly used over the years. She’s always been garage kept.

If you want to go over 100mph a 4wd truck is not for you, if you complian about cab noise and stiff suspension - a truck is not for you. I like my gm's because the drivetrain is reliable unlike ford (cam syncros, boost probs, removing the cab and cylinder heads to change plugs, plus much more) and dodge who hasn't made a good v8 since the 360/318 and never a good v6, not to mention rear end and trans issues galore.

About the Auto 4wd, that should only be used in variable conditions such as when there are ice patches. Driving in Auto WILL destroy your transfer case if you do it too much and you will be pissed. When the truck is in Auto 4WD, the transfer case is on but the hubs are unlocked. I had a Z71 with Auto 4wd and I always just used the regular 4wd because I only used it in severe mud, snow, etc.

@CrashJSTest, a RECALLED tundra better than a chevy? You know nothing of trucks Tundra has alot of issues with Engine Sludge and Rusting Frames. And a weak C-section between the bed and Cab. Silverado is Practical and very usefull. If you want cheap, get the tundra. If you want a 3 year warranty get a Ford

eh... iv'e seen a drag race between a sierra, silvrado (both 2500HD with the 6L) and a ram with the 5.7L the sierra was the fastest then the chevy and lastly the ram the chevy and ram were stock but i'm not sure about the sierra HP numbers aren't everything that ram had only one wheel spinning lol XD
@chrishuber89307 жыл бұрын
1234fllf your talking about 2500.....1500 a ram blows away both the 5.0 and the 5.3.....try it against a 6.4 ram 2500. and the reason why the ram is slower on 2500 is because of weight and it was designed to tow heavy. as much as the bigger engines from gm and Ford. the one wheel spinning is because of the limited slip diff ........for it to still spin mean it has a shitload of torque
@40jericho12 жыл бұрын
chevys ride better but most oil field work trucks bought in fleets are Fords because of less maintenence. Fords are built Texas tough. and thats a fact. Chevys look and ride better but the cost to maintain them is expensive.

I own a 2013 5.3 vortex z71 extended can shortbox its good truck little under powered and hard on fuel it get 17mpg hiway it hit 19mpg on premium but that was on a perfect day iv had over 8000pounds and I had no problem passing on the hiway but wish I would of kept my 2008 2500 HD 6.0 but I still find my self driving my 1994 Silverado 5.7 2wd more than my 13 I kinda like it more bottom line is I would take a bullet for my 1994 long before I would take one for all this new junk everyone makes these days and I bought my 94 as total loss from SGI insurance in Saskatchewan and since rebuilt it I suggest if you got older truck spend $20 000 or on it and you'll have a way better and cooler truck then any new $40 000 to $90 000 truck but 07 to 13 Chevy's are and oka truck but I'm still going back to my 94 just seems like better built truck just my 2cents

WRONG. Rams are way more reliable and way more dependable. The Chevy is outdated and the interior shows, hard plastics, cheap rattly wood, low res sat nav(not to mention terrible in every way), the trip computer was inspired by a 1970's calculator's LCD screen, it lacks so many features the Ford and Ram gives you, not to mention way better looks. Chevy works hard? Tell me, why does it have the least payload and tow rating in all 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, and 1 ton trucks compared to Ram and Ford?
