You are the man! Bought a 07 at auction. Non running. Full battery dropped in it and with one push and 10mins it started up in the auction yard and drove on the trailer. Needed a coil, valve cover gasket you know typical L-series maintenance. Thanks again

This video is a life saver! I have a 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid in Phoenix AZ that was sitting for a little over a month. My battery was completely dead (from the heat and not moving) so I bought a new one. Car still wouldn't start after installing it but I did get lights and dashboard indicators working. So I followed your steps by hitting the battery charger button on the left side under the steering while. Everything worked as you said. I hit the button and had a solid green light. I hooked my other vehicle up with jumpers just to assist with maintaining a charge (not sure if that was necessary) and after about 4 mins the green light began to flash. Tossed in the keys and it started right up! So thanks again man.

Recently purchased a 2006 hybrid escape being sold by the state, they were selling it as a non-runner. Got it for a steal. Of course it didn't start, 12volt battery was dead. Found mention of the charge button in the operators manual. Did a google search on no starts. Found your video Did exactly like you said, WALLA it started. My wife found a receipt from a Ford dealer, that said it was the hybrid battery or wiring harness. They charged them 300 dollars for the inspection. I can't believe a dealer did that. 1) Instead of charging the 12 volt battery first and instead of hooking up a battery pack the the 12 volt battery..... Can we use another vehicle with jumper cablers connected to the 12 volt battery on the hybrid escape and then use the same sequences of pushing the black button and wait 8 minutes while the system charges the rear hybrid battery? 2) Would the jumping vehicle need to be running during this process as well? There's a Facebook group or a couple of them for owners and aficionados of Ford escape and Mercury Mariner hybrids and the guys in there have a wealth of information. I have saved myself so much money by asking them for advice before taking it in to a mechanic.

I've actually got the 2008 and normally the button works but this time it's not. There's a clicking sound coming from the dash, rapidly, even though the key is not in the ignition. I had left the back right window down when I went in the house and when I came back out to the car about an hour later it was dead. When I push the button it turns sort of orangey, not green. I replaced the 12 volt battery about three or four months ago.

Just replaced the HV battery on my 06 escape Hybrid started for about 5 minutes and then dies again . Red triangle and yellow wrench are on waiting 2-3 minutes starts again runs for about 20 seconds and then dyes again I pulled on my obdII scanner P0A1F . My question is if the BECM needs to be programmed or the PCM after replacing the battery

It needs to be driven every couple of days to stay charged so if you let it sit for too many days or longer you will need to jump start it with the booster button.

Hi makuloco.....How can you know if CVT is bad? I heard that the electric resistance (Ohm) measured between cvt connector terminals cable component side??? I think i have some issus with the CVT because my battery fuse is bad. i was going down the freeway and it had to be towed home ...The fuse is very expensive...

Do you know if replacement cell packs are made yet? Someone could make a killing making new packs (the 5 D cell sized batteries wrapped together with proper ends) In the coming years there is going to be a lot of people wanting to replace theirs there self. Paces are getting $6000+ for rebuilt batteries and if we could do it ourselves for $1000 or less it would be great.

i'm dealing with an 06 escape no start and there is no light at all on the button in the kick panel. the owner bought it at an auction and had to have a key programmed for the vehicle. I have a 2008FEH last week while driving steering wheel locked and car shut off. Had it towed as I thought it just got too hot. I do live in Las Vegas and the temp that day was 120. The next day I turned it on and it stayed on for all of 30 seconds and shut off. I did notice the wrench light on and now the ABS light is on. I'm afraid of how much it's going to be to fix it. Any suggestions?

Had a no start as well. Left it undriven for 1.5 months, came back, engine would turn over and then died after 20 seconds. Tried again, no turnover and wrench light etc. light up. No turnover. Reset battery, it would do the same thing...turnover once and run for 5 seconds then die. Wouldn't turn over again. Took it to Ford Dealer and they said the High Voltage Battery was completely dead. They recharged it and voila. On retrospect, if we let the car sit for a few days, the voltage indicator would show that the High Voltage Battery was dead and the engine would surge on first starting. Not sure why this slow drain is happening (or did happen) but it hasn't turned over/no start since. And we also won't be letting set for 1.5 months again.....maybe disconnect the battery when we go on long trips?

Hi I own an '08 as well this is my second time going through the process it seems the LED for the '08 will come on as an amber color if the battery isn't fully charged and if you're in a bright area and not looking the button head on it's nigh on impossible to see that the light is on hope this helps

The suv wouldnt start so i did axactly what this video said but now the radio dontvwork and the speedometer dont work nothing comes on not even like the rpms indicator or the mph indicator and there is a gauge that says assist that one doesnt turn on either or the miles indicator or the prnd do not show. I have the red triangle with check emission systems after I hit a bump. it was only 3 days prior to this that the strut smash through the floor right passenger rear. I haven't had a chance to fix the strut and then this new thing happened with a car shut down saying check emission systems red triangle. this happened after hitting a major bump

great advice I have that same escape LOVE IT the best It paid for itsself and its insurance! Off road is so sweet total stealth when you went into the reprogram mode i flashed back to 1 day driving along and just when i passed a Ford dealer I had total break pedal lock not the complete break failure just the pedal lock then let off and try again and it works But soon after i started having the TOTAL break failure where it shuts down the vehicle completely and youd be lucky to stop at all !!! Well years later after just putting up with the once in a blue moon failure i blew a front break hose out in the wooods and after replacing it i chose to just gravity bleed the front calipers! Strange but it fix stopped the failures that was 3 years ago! Your vid made me wonder if theres a wifi antenna on my hybrid and it was corrupted by a ford dealer? PS something about the anti lock valves and the front pressures?

I use the Ford dealer scan tool. The best way to make that battery reliable is to drive it and keep the current flowing.

I am not sure on the saturns if they even have a button. Ford did away with them on the 2009 and newer models too.
