Typically when you pay that much money on one side of the ball, you can't afford it on the other. Thats why a salary cap exists. Its supposed to keep teams from becoming dominant like the Patriots. Imagine a team like the Pats in 07 with a defense like the Ravens and imagine if they could keep that team together for as long as both teams had their respective stars..... It wouldn't be fair. That is why the Ravens never had an offense. They put money into their defense.

Last Name First Name, not necessarily. They could always afford good players, just not top offensive contracts. Also, they just weren’t great at drafting, offensively. Especially at receiver. Plus, rookies that develop quickly are the best contract options.

This game signaled the end of the line for Brian Billick as the Ravens coach. Not because they lost, but because they almost won. They played up to their caliber in this game, but not in their other 15 games that season. @@denisjohnson8198 1:58:56 false start should not be a dead ball penalty and this play is the perfect example why. The Ravens were already tackling the guy before the whistles were blown. Ravens got absolutely screwed in this game by completely illogical rules.

This was/is the best team in the NFL. No other team in history has gone into the Super Bowl with an 18-0 record. !8 wins beats 16 wins in any math class. 18-1 the best record in the history of American Football belongs to the Patriots.

Brian Billick lost this team. Especially after their 13-3 season in 2006. This team was 4-7 during this game. Brian was fired after this season and went to the AFC championship in Pittsburgh in 2008 with John Harbaugh as head coach.
@TheAireaidLord Жыл бұрын
I never realized how crazy the end of this game was and how dangerously close the Pats were to losing. Stopped on 4th down twice and a false start penalty and dumb TO by Rex gives them another chance. And then the holding call. Absolutely insane amount of chances
@God-du2ir Жыл бұрын
yeah whenever a team is gonna go undefeated, they gonna have to have some luck and calls go their way. Its pretty much impossible to play flawlessly for 17 weeks of football. 07 Pats won most games comfortably but they had some calls go their way that kept them undefeated.

I know MNF suffered a mortal blow when it went from ABC to ESPN, but is it just me, or did MNF seem to be more legit around this time than it is now?
@TheLocalLt5 жыл бұрын
Rush Vogel it only seemed that way because people were still in that mode of “MNF is a big deal”, not a lot of people realized at first that with the move to ESPN it became the #3 game of the week, but after enough bad matchup and great SNF “Flex-Games” people quickly figured it out. Also Tony Kornheiser would get roasted every single week in forums, although even getting Gruden couldn’t fix the weekly bad matchups
@jimgooch37045 жыл бұрын
I think it seems that way in retrospect until you zoom out: These years the last gasp of networks driving the coverage. With the rise of the internet and streaming services (legit and otherwise) MNF lost its mojo. Thursday night GOTW has been a joke since its inception due to the same problem: coming in at the end of the network-driven conversation. Now it's diluted; still profitable but not the center of the world as usual.
@TheLocalLt4 жыл бұрын
Jim Gooch this makes no sense networks still “drive” the coverage. ESPN put a ton of pomp and circumstance into MNF in 2006-07 because they were trying to convince people it was the old MNF. I don’t get how TNF is connected to this at all, as it could still be around even if MNF was still the featured game and on ABC. TNF is not a game of the week of any sort, it’s just a random weekday game, like MNF is now, the marquee window is SNF

Flacco clears Lamar. Of course lamar is better than him now. But Flacco was the best qb year in and year out from 2008-2012. By best I mean most consistent. Can’t say the same for Big Ben manning Brady rivers Sanchez etc

😂😂😂 Lamar needs to sniff a Super Bowl before he comes close to being as valuable to the Raven’s franchise as Flacco is. Hell, any bit of playoff success would be tracking in the right direction.
