The calmness of Brady at that age in that moment on that stage was a sign of things to come.
@mk-ultramags11073 жыл бұрын
Yup. I obviously can't say, "I knew he'd win 7 SBs!"... But any New England fan can say that when he started out, he just had something about him that said, "I'm a winner." He was cool, calm and efficient. He never was like Marino, Bledsoe, Manning, Rivers, Favre etc, in the sense he wasn't constantly bugging out about stuff on the field. He certainly has his moments lol but his demeanor is everything you want to see in a QB. After a drive, good or bad, he walks to the bench, sits down and collects himself. He'll talk to guys. Sometimes he'll get the team going a bit but when he's between the lines, it's just poetic. He had what, 18TDs-12Ints, 25TDs-13Ints, whatever it was during those first few years. His numbers were average. BUT, he managed the offense, the run game was great because he knew how to set protection. He was great in the screen game and when it mattered most, he was MONEY. Eventually he got better at every area, especially after 07'. But his ability to command a huddle is 2nd to none. I always loved his games against Rivers(Whom I got nothing but respect for) because while Rivers was constantly yelling to the sideline, refs, players etc... Brady was the Polar Opposite. He would just take care of business and let his play do the talking. The D was always setting the tone anyways and alot of the skill guys played with fire. Brady just did his job. 20yrs later, you can see that's why Belichick loved him and why(Contrary to the haters and Espn) they had such a prosperous relationship. They knew WINNING trumped everything. Stats don't matter when the game is tied with 90 seconds left and the ball is in your hands. TB12 is the GOAT and I was privileged to watch him play every Sunday for 20yrs.

Got to remember that Brady wasn't known as the GOAT back then, but just the kid starting for the first time in his career in 2001 after Bledsoe's injury. No one would've thought that the Pats would come this far this year especially after facing a dangerous Raiders team in the Divisional round.

The Rams were undefeated on the road that year only losing 2 games that season at home they beat the Patriots in the regular season that season. They were the Greatest show on Turf with Warner, Faulk, Holt, and Bruce and in this superbowl against the Patriots. The Patriots defense dominated the Rams offense. This was a upset because the Rams were favored to win and if would've they won this game they would have been a dynasty
@jakefromstatefarm69697 жыл бұрын
TKS Films Looking at betting odds, there have only been 5 instances where a team was favored by double digits in the superbowl and lost. Favre was favored by 11 against Elway and lost. Len Dawson and the Chiefs beat the Purple People Eaters and the Vikings, after the Vikings were favored by 12. The Patriots lost in 2007 to the Giants after being favored by 12. Joe Namath beat the Colts after the Colts were favored by 18. In this game, Warner and the Rams were favored by 14 and lost. According to Vegas, this is the second biggest Superbowl upset ever. Only one superbowl besides the Joe Namath game had a more lopsided spread than this one, SF vs SD where SF was favored by 18.5 and won by 23.

As much as Tom Brady and Adam Vinateri deserve some credit for winning this game, that Patriots defense seriously deserves over 80% of the credit. Taking on one of the all time greatest, most potent, powerful offenses ever to have played in the NFL. They prepared so much and worked SO HARD to get there, and they did it, they won. And they deserved it. Teddy Bruschi, Ty Law, Tebucky Jones, Willie McGinest, Mike Vrabel, Lawyer Milloy, Richard Seymour.... Together, they were nearly unstoppable. Too bad they still don't get the credit they deserve. Neither does Drew Bledsoe. Especially here in New England. He certainly doesn't get a ton of credit because once Tom Brady stepped up, Bledsoe was all but forgotten about and tossed aside. He was an amazing QB in his prime. That's for damn sure.

WOW, Brady's first ever super bowl pass from the 2 yard line with no room, throws a 20 yard dart to Troy Brown..who'd of thought he would have the most accomplished playoff stats in the history of the NFL back then

As a Rams fan, rewatching this hurts man. Pats defense played a hell of a game though vs the best offense of all time.
@dp2333328 жыл бұрын
the 1988-1990 49ers offense was better than the rams...not as explosive but far more consistent and reliable when it mattered most...how many points did the rams score in SB34?nobody held the 89 49ers in check for half a superbowl.
@ashadows6668 жыл бұрын
dp233332 Wasnt better but was very good sure.
@dp2333328 жыл бұрын
Austin H define better...that 49ers offense was more consistent and reliable with fewer flaws-they could score more pts/tds against a great defense while committing fewer TOs...How many pts did the rams manage to score during the 99 NFCCG?How many tds did they put up against the Pats defense 2 yrs later in SB36?..They were more prolific, faster at WR, but not as tough or complete, and every WR was a finesse player who couldnt take a Steve Atwater caliber hit without falling down let alone bounce off it and run another 10-20yds into the endzone the way Jerry Rice did during SBXXIV...The stats dont begin to do that team justice and even Jerry Rice's records cant really encapsulate how great he was...Yeah Moss and those speed demons in St Louis could go deep or burn people after the catch, but nobody ran routes better than Rice, nobody was more fearless across the middle or blocked better than he did, 30-50+yds down field springing John Taylor after the catch for 2 50+yd catch and run TDs in the same game...Rice may have been the best football player ever....SB TDs in 3 different decades and 2 different centuries/millennia... Toughness aside under Head Coach Mike Martz they were quite turnover prone...If you wanna suggest that the 99 Rams were the best offense since Montanas 49ers or from the post Elway NFL in general I wont argue...Id rather have the 99Rams than the 07Pats 04 Colts or 2013-14Broncos because all of them got shut down and beaten in the playoffs, and none of them featured a RB as great as M.Faulk....
@ashadows6668 жыл бұрын
dp233332 This is fair. I cant argue Rice was the best WR of all time and one of the best NFL players of all time and I can admit that as a Rams fan. Montana was the most clutch Qb of all time. Your probably right that the 49ers were more consistent and the Rams were more explosive. Faulk was such a matchup nightmare because of his receiving skills. Bruce, Holt, and Hakim were definately not physical receivers which made there careers last longer imo. They werent running through anyone anyway lol. A few factors came into play in this SB though. Warner had a injured thumb and it clearly effected his throws. Also the spygate stuff. At times it did seem like the Pats knew what the Rams were doing. They definitely knew stuff and game planned for them. Im not taking anything away from the Pats but that defense wasnt great but played like it on this day for sure. The Rams did all this before all the rule changes that helped offenses later on (which benefited the Colts,Pats offenses etc moving forward/Pats defense was the reason alot of the newer rules exist lol). Dont forget that Bucs defense the Rams faced lead them to a SB win with freaking Brad Johnson at QB. That team had like 3-4 HOF defensive players on it. (Lynch, Sapp, Brooks, Barber).
@ashadows6668 жыл бұрын
dp233332 How do we know what was on those tapes when Goodell destroyed them? Do you believe everything the NFL is telling us? They should have been released to the public. It makes me think the NFL didnt want the public to view those tapes for a reason. Maybe the tapes were nothing but why not just show us if it was nothing? We will never know now so its hard not to speculate as a fan of a team that was possibly effected. The Rams did mismanage Warner and it has effected us with years of losing.
