The dirty interior is befitting Pontiac's hooptie reputation. These supercharged GMs were sleepers and this isn't a bad-looking car. Probably more comfortable than anything GM is making today. The self-denting fender is peak GM. Out here in the Mid-Atlantic, we joke that the best defensive driving course you can take is driving through a Wawa parking lot. Those parking lots are wild.

I personally think in my opinion, the 1997-2003 bodystyle Grand Prix was a better built car than the 2004-2008 models. And the '97-'03 has that nostalgic 80s and 90s GM FWD feel.

@@PoseidoncapsizesHi Thanks. I really do miss it. It had 155k on it when it was totaled. It was a clean car too. The deer hit the passenger side. Hit once and bounced and hit it again. Destroyed the door, killed the mirror and side marker light, the "3800" badge fell off, fender, knocked up the hood a tad one the side and its antlers dented the roof rail and busted the quarter glass and slightly dented the quarter panel. I was so sad.

I had an 04' GTP in greystone metallic, mine had the Comp G package with the red caliper brakes and upgraded wheels. It was a company car and I put 85k miles on it in 2 years. Overall it was one of my favorite cars to drive... I blew the transmission at 60k miles, but in the cars defense, it was only 18 months old and those 65k miles were very hard miles. The supercharged 3800 was a workhorse and very reliable, its an amazing engine. Great car! My company car after the GTP was the SS Impala with the 5.3 V8.

Last year I briefly worked with a guy who bought one of these online…while he was drunk…and it was in Florida. He paid while drunk, to have it shipped to Nova Scotia. It was a police repossession as it was owned by a drug dealer. The druggie had modified the block with cams and pistons so it was making about 350 horsepower if I remember. The guy who bought it added intake, headers, exhaust and a tune to push it to 500 horsepower. It was in very good shape. A deep green colour if I remember.

One of Pontiac's most beautiful designs, I find it very attractive and pleasing to the eye. The interior styling and materials could have been better though. Really liked the GTP and GXP performance variants, only thing the 6 speed auto was weak. Wasnt enough to save Pontiac, the G6 failed on its end.

Was hoping to see you try to get INTO the back seat. That roofline makes it a very awkward experience. Looked at one of these once and was a little intrigued (though interior build switchgear/materials/quality was sub-par - GM), but I knew I had to sometimes carry people (clients) and that design just wouldn't work. Fargo ND - blech. Did this once just to 'get' ND as a state visited; no need to repeat. Much prefer Sioux Falls SD.
