that one really hits home. My parents had one a few years back, before i got my licence. it was a 2006 grey wagon with the 1.9TDI and a 5 speeds manual gearbox. We used it for all it was capable of doing, and it did a lot ! It was garage kept, and we didn't have such bad plastic peeling issues, the radio and back were intact, but IIRCthe driver's door switched were starting to wear off (it was like 6-7 years ago) enjoy your new year's eve, and see you next year :)

The 1.9 TDI from Volskwagen was such a great engine, my dad had a 2008 Passat with the 2.0 TDI, and that was another different storie... He got rid of it with only 160.000KM (100.000 miles) because it was a disaster,. Now is a Mazda man, like Zack😉

@@_Tesla_Corp._ my parents first saw a blue 2.0 TDI, but the price wasn't something they could do, so they went to another place who had the 1.9 cheaper, and we got this one instead

We had a 2006 passat 2.0 TDI for 10 years we traded it in a few weeks ago with 452000 km ( 280000 miles) on the clock and it was still going strong before it we had a b5 with a 1.9 tdi also a great car because of the good experience with tose two we now have a passat again a 2008 1.8 tsi

I love these wagons! I’ve got a 2009 Highline model of this same wagon and pretty much fully loaded for the year. The 2.0 TSI and automatic on mine was adequate, but a Unitronics Stage 1 flash turned this car from a family hauler to more of a GTI.

VW did offer this in AWD and with VR6 power. Would make a sweet wagon!

I have the fwd VR6 3.6 wagon. it's a really fun car. don't think the fwd is boring or that it lacks traction, it's really capable

I have an 07 6MT wagon in this colour with tan leather. I'm at 296,000km and had it for 11 years now. Best VW I've ever had. The manual really makes the 2.0T motor better. On the button wear, it's a rubberized paint and only my DS window switch wore and was easily replaced for like $40. I also put Audi S6 Fat Fives on it with wider rubber, euro tail lights with rear fog and projector fogs with euro switch. Makes the car better in looks and functionality. Mine also has blacked out euro headlights. This car rocks. Can haul my fam around in comfort and IMO is the best looking non-luxobarg wagon out there. Like your favourite jeans... yep the ones that still look great.

Great cars, we loved them in the UK but everyone bought the 2.0L diesel as they were absolutely excellent

That has to be a rare car in the US. I don't think I've ever seen one and I didn't know they came as wagons in North America until now. I find it funny that North American VWs didn't have a parking light position on the headlight switch, you either get all or nothing unless you install a Euro switch and reflash the car's computer.

no idea where you bought it but i wouldnt say all cars from this era have bad plastic like you said i had few cars from 2000-2007 and none of them had any problem with peeling plastics

7:40 not just VW, Audis of this era also had this problem. In my Audi A8 the window switches have almost completely peeled and the plastic on the MMI controller is beginning to bubble up.

Typical fail on these videos. Wagons are for hauling stuff but he doesn't fold down the back seat. I want to know if it folds flat. The video itself is great with proper detail.
