this model of Passat is so popular in my conuntry in Kosova they are so reiable . Mostly are diesels with 1.9TDI 105hp and 2.0TDI with 140HP and some of them are more extra with 2.0TDI (I-red)with 170HP super nice cars drives very good and DSG transsmision is super smooth and shifts super fast . Average passat in my country has 200+k km and belive me I have seen and drive some with 400+ k km and u never could tell that has that much kiolmetres.

This is one of the best generation looking passats, these were very expensive relative to the next generation of Passat and Jetta which skimped on quality, however they were not very reliable. Some may be decent if you maintain them but the DSG was not reliable whatsoever…. Multiple recalls, TSB’s and extended warranty’s. The turbo on the 2.0 T's was a b**** to replace, if you were going to buy a used 2.0 T hope you can do your own work or befriend your mechanic, and absolutely get a VAG-COM👌🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve got a 2013 Tiguan with the same engine and AWD... it’s got 155k miles on it and still runs like new. Body, paint, and interior holding up as well. This car replaced a Lexus ES300 which replaced a Honda Accord EX V6 coupe... It’s going to outlast both. The key is doing the maintenance. You can’t trash German cars the same way Americans treat cars. Follow the goddamn manual. Change the effing fluids. Take care of it and it will outlast anything. Treat it like shit and it will grenade on you before 100k miles. It’s not the car... it’s how you take care of it.

Dsg is junk, 2.0T is junk 2.0T TSI Ignition Coils and Misfire Fault Codes 2.0T TSI Positive Crankcase Vent (PCV ) Valve Fault Codes and DIY 2.0T TSI Intake Manifold Runner Fault Codes 2.0T TSI Diverter Valve (DV) Failures 2.0T TSI High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) Failures G Cam follower failure Camshaft failures I can go on..... 2.5 was an awesome economy engine

I wouldn't say its the least appealing. Its probably the most boring, but its still a very good car. They're reliable if maintained, comfortable, and frankly are better built that most BMW's/Mercedes of the same era.
