2008-2010 Dodge Challenger Not Charging Battery. External Voltage Regulator Modification.

Today we have a 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T with the 5.7 engine that is not charging. The vehicle has had 2 alternators replaced already and is still not charging. We found that the ecm is actually faulty, but in this case, is quite expensive. We found an aftermarket external regulator kit that will send the appropriate voltage to the alternator to make it charge properly. This repair should be the same for 2008 Dodge Challenger, 2009 Dodge Challenger, and 2010 Dodge challenger with the 5.7L engine.

I have a similar issue with a 2017 dodge charger awd the voltage jumps up and down between 13.5 and 14.9 and the battery is dead so every time we have to start it we need a jump and while it’s running as soon as we turn the steer wheel it kills the power . The alternator is good an we are charging the battery to see if it’s a change but I believe we may be having the same issues you were explaining . Also I appreciate the informative video about this issue it gives me insit on how these chargers work

Yeah. The pcm controls the alternator duty cycle.

@@automotiveinsight my 2011 Dodge challenger rt 5.7 won’t ready oxygen sensor monitors and cat monitors and I suspect it is a bad pcm …battery is good and alternator is good but battery reads 12.2 with engine off and when turned on it reads 13.5 or 13.6 . I also have a engine code of wrong oil type witch I already replaced with right oil 5w20 and code comes back … and oil pressure is around 38 psi 2.0 volts so I’m guessing it’s a bad pcm… please help !!!
