I love your videos very informative. I have to do this for a 2016 Honda CRV. Should be a similar process. The only thing I do different when pressing in new bearings is, I put them in the freezer overnight it makes them slide in so much easier. And old-timer showed me that years ago. Again thanks for the video

I had a mechanic tell me my front wheel bearing needs to ve replaced. The showed my some play in the wheel. I've had a rear wheel bearing go on another car and could hear a distinctive scraping coming from the wheel area. I hear nothing from this car and no loose feeling steering. Could it be something else causing the play like a tie rod? Is $300 reasonable to replace the wheel bearing? Seems a bit high? it took about an hour to do on my other car and the part new is about $80. He wants to rebuild the part.

Shouldnt need alignment. I greatly regret not just saving up for the "loaded" knuckle. The snap ring is currently kicking my ass and ive already trashed a hub marring it. And good rule of thumb to do both sides. They have equal wear so its likely also making noise or will be.

@@jimthecarguy My local Firestone here in central NJ quoted me almost $900 to replace the knuckle, hub and bearing, saying it all comes pre assembled and they don't replace the bearings. Their price on the part was almost $600. I know I can get one for less than that if I do the entire assembly, and it seems easy enough to do myself.... But $300-400 to replace just the bearing, including parts, labor and alignment doesn't sound too bad! Not sure if the hub and knuckle really need to be replaced either (especially the knuckle)... Changing the bearing like in this video will require tools and experience I don't have and don't want to take that chance on a daily driver so if I go that route I'll get the parts myself and take it to a local shop.

@@jimthecarguy Thank you for the suggestion and great video, I enjoyed watching! That's definitely not a bad idea. I priced the bearing at $70 and the hub was only $60, both OEM original Honda. I'm still thinking of doing the hub because 1. The car has 220k miles on it and may as well replace it while I'm in there (will do the passenger side one when time comes to replace the front bearing on that side) 2. No additional labor time, in fact less time because I wouldn't have to saw the other piece of the bearing off the old hub. I will definitely keep you posted though it might take some time to get it done it's been bitter cold here and I don't have a garage. The bearing isn't terribly noisy yet, but I can hear some hum kinda like tire noise almost. I assume the bearing is on borrowed time but not completely shot yet. Thanks again!

@@jimthecarguy Update (since you said to keep you posted), I just ordered a new OEM Honda hub and bearing from a Honda dealer in Ohio for $130 plus $12 shipping and no tax. After watching this video again I decided I'm going to take it to a local shop who does high quality work. Based on your price estimate I'm assuming he should charge me no more than $300-350 considering I'm supplying the parts and using a new hub will save him the step of sawing off the piece of the old bearing. If he recommended changing the tie rod ends maybe I'll have that done too. Probably won't get the work done until sometime in April. Will update again later.

Wow, after 40 years of turning wrenches I am so jealous that you can magically take apart a rusted hub with little effort. Everything was pre removed and installed. I realize you are doing this to move the vid along but you are fooling DYIers. Those ball joints are not coming apart with one of two taps of the hammer. You WILL ruin the bearing when puling the hub out of it. You have no way to support the outer shell of the bearing. This job sucks for any pro let alone a DYIer. Things will go wrong if you do not no what you are doing. Plan to purchase a new bearing. Plan on cussing this job from start to finish.
