The HR shows it's strenght as the speed rises. If the runs had continued to 140-150mph the stock HR would be 4 or 5 cars ahead. And it's a stock one.

Every dyno is different, this DE would probably be around 260 whp on a dynojet, the HR puts down 255-260 whp stock. So the HR is much better in the top end due to intake / exhaust manifold design.

Lol. A bolt on and tuned HR will shit all over a bolt on and tuned DE. Football fields. Not car lengths. I've personally owned a 2005,2006 and, 2008. The HR is better in every way. HRs are exhaust restricted. Dude still had cats. No tune. Base car NO VSLD (hr) vs a car with a VSLD (de). So all that downside, and the DE was practically max boltons with a tune, and it can what, still lose buy a car length? A max bolt on HR "CAN" pull over 310-320 WHEEL HP. With 290-300 being EASILY obtained with berk HFCs and a dual exhaust that's 2.25" (each side) You will never see a bolt on DE over 280. with 260-270 being the norm. Stock most DEs are lucky to put down 230-240hp That's assuming they are not beat to shit, Where an HR is over 260hp. Keep in mind the SAE Horsepower ratings were changed in 2007. The same year the HR engine came out and it was lowered. The paper 306HP on the HR is A LOT more then the 300 HP of the revup DE or the 287 of the Non revup DE

Wrong mods, all you had to do was Injen cold air intake that hangs right in front underneath of the bumper getting that dense air instantly pushed thru mind you, light weight flywheel, light weight pulleys which in the 350z has three heavy ones and catback eliminating resonator and you would of won, and that's without a tune. But still it was a good thing to show the people the difference in power.

The previous owner of My 05 DE tuned it with Oziris with just HFC and Magnaflow dual exhaust (that I replaced for a single now) and got 233 whp on a Mustang dyno... I can't understand adding all these mods (Plenum, test pipes etc...) made him gain that little!

My 04 g35 sedan AT DE with megan hr style Y pipe,full exhaust,cat delete, 5/16 spacer, hr exhaust manifolds,efan conv, runs the 07-08 hr at or mt sedans around here.only 1 has any mods and its a cat back exhaust. Not sure if its out of the norm or if its drivers or what. But i usally get about half-1 car on them. Take it for what its worth. My next project is going to be a hr twin turbo.

It is clear that the HR has the advantage when there is no shifting involved, in another words -as u r going faster the lesser the shifts become until its gets where u are both cruising at the same gear and that's where the HR starts to pull hard- that's the issue with the DE is lacking the top end grunt, That's the fact that u can never ignore. Unless there is a tune or a mod that can correct.it......

Trust me my previous 350z DE was almost as fast as my 370z Nismo now. I use to blow on my friends 08 HR with my DE every time decisively . This doesn't make any sense at all

Sorry to reply to an old comment but i just raced my bros stock 2017 nismo 370 vs my stock motor de(only mods are snapped aircon belt and pzero 40 profile tyres which are 7lb lighter each) and i pegged him from 30-120mph. I was kind of hoping he'd pull hard on my old z but it never happened. Had quite a few pulls and if anything the old de was more responsive in gear. Will get a video up soon. I can only imagine some de's run shit and others dont as ive never seen this huge gap between hrs and de's.

Plus the small wheel size is a advantage in acceleration, but not in top speed races. The DE probably is faster in circuit or mountain. The HR with that top end and bigger wheel size is better clearly here in top speed races. Still both are awesome cars

I dont get the hate on DE from other 350z owners man XD. My DE has most of the same upgrades and i put down 272 and she freaking goes. Yeah the HR is newer and usually that means better technology to build better motors. People saying its hard to make 300whp are kinda dumb though. I have pretty close to FBO and im not horribly far off start putting some real money into the motor for the parts that actually bring HP gains and it will easily pass 300. Mind blowing how 350z owners can shit on other types of 350z all because the motor is alittle slower. I can tell you right now for the price difference to get a HR with the miles i got my DE i could build my engine and smoke the fuck out of a FBO HR. Its just the truth both cars and all the motors are awesome and fun to drive but the money saved is money i can now turn around and put back into the car. Personally 272 is fine by me and enjoyable so now the money i saved i can put into cosmetics and racing seats and later i can make a beast NA motor. Stop the hate guys XD we all family baby!

But iLLinFiniTiG35 said the de shouldn't be hanging with it the HR you have to remember this De has upRev Osiris tune this tune make these engine extremely responsive and brings the rpms up from 6600 to 7200-7400rpm this tune make the throttle 100% vs 70% agressive I think the dyno number are wrong too.I seen these setup dyno easy at 250whp and up I have Osiris tune on my car header and exhaust and I dyno 275whp. Now had this been a stock De with no Osiris tune it would have been a walk in the park plus hr was the horn blower De got the jump or mayb just a better driver Osiris tune wakes VQs up!!!

poopta Avoid the 06 models. Their engines are know for very high oil consumption, And i mean like 2-3 quarts every 5k. There's been a few who havent had this problem. But I wouldn't risk it. 07-08 HR is basically when they got everything right.

+poopta Might be a little late to answer this and you probably know but Ill say it anyway lol. The 03-5 rev limits at 6500, the 06 is 7000 (I may be wrong), but the 07-08 HR engines rev limit to 7500 and when the DE's start to die off in power in the upper RPM's the HR keeps pulling.

Need to spend more effort on the timing tables and you will get more power. I get what your saying about Dyno numbers and I know what theyre used for, but that still seems very low when we've had stock Zs on our Dyno Dynamics make that power. Also saying this video speaks for itself isn't saying much, because a stock HR Z is a low 14 sec car so the performance I see here is nothing to brag about. We've put fwd Maximas well into the 13's with the same bolt-ons. It's all in the tune!

Yes both VQ. DE is the older VQ35 motors ranging from 280-298HP. The HR makes 306HP, but has superior top-end over the DE engines.

Dude... They aren't REALLY slow. A couple tenths slower to 60 and in 1/4. It's not THAT big of a difference. The 07+ is just faster.

+Carlo Ortiz Well his stock headers on the DE, compared to the HR, are severely restrictive. Even with the exhaust mods the gains are minimal.

I use to own an 04 350z now own a 370z Nismo with full bolt ons and a good tune . I had all these mods on my 04 350z DE this race doesn't make sense at all. I use to race my friends 08 HR and beat it decisively every time with my fully bolted DE. My DE was almost as fast as my 370z with all the work done to it.
