Chevrolet Silverado. Chevy Silverado. When you combine the sales of the Chevrolet Silverado with the nearly identical GMC Sierra, the General Motors pickups outsell all comers. This means GM has a lot riding on the Chevrolet Silverado, because this truck will be its standard-bearer for years to come. With that in mind GM engineers and designers have made substantial changes to the pickup -- an improved chassis, more precise steering and a quieter, more upscale interior offering two completely different looks.
At its introduction he Silverado also offered segment-leading fuel economy thanks to the new line of Active Fuel Management-equipped V8 engines. And for those with an ecological bent, a Flex Fuel E85-capable engine is also available.

As a GM mechanic and a Chevy guy, the only difference between the big 3 is their trucks weight and of course engine. They all look the same. And back then they had some character. Now they are all ugly

TheCarArchives no CVT though. That was a 4l60E modified with electric motors in the transmission. Not a CVT at all

You sure about that? GMs V8 engines were on the Ward's top 10 best engines list. After '06 GM is doing a lot better with quality anyway.

Driven both 2011 Ford F-150 Platinum and Chevrolet Silverado LTZ, there both very nice but I'd went with the F-150 felt more reliable in it and more secure

@watso64 the reason they went back to drum brakes is because its the more reliable option. when they went to discs in the rear in 99 it was a faliure. the brakes would wear out too fast and were not very good for work. They went back to drums, i have no quams with them. the V6 is purely an old man option, a full size truck needs a V8. they are built pretty cheap on the inside though, and some of the bumpers have to be re-lined by the dealer because the factory put them on a bit crooked

chevy does have a 6.2 v8 for 1500 but i dont need that much power and it gets great epa so i like 5.3 not to strong not to weak just right

just bought a 2010 Silverado WT with a 4.8. like it a lot, but i wish i would have got it in a standard trans. The motor delivers good power, pulls pretty good. I bet with just a cold air intake and a true dual exhaust with a power programmer i could unlock some extra ponies on the cheap. The only thing i hate about it is how weak the interior is. Its the basic set up just like a WT should be, but they tried to make it more "lux" and therefore everything looks like it would break pretty easy

No. The Escalade EXT is an upscale version of the Chevy Avalanche. The Avalanche lacks many of the standard features of the Escalade EXT, hence its much smaller price tag.

GM better redesign this and offer a whole new engine line up, to compete with the 2011 Ford F150's new engine line ups, even the base 3.7 liter V6 Makes 300 Horse 275 pound/ft of torque, that is almost as good as GM's 5.3 Liter V8, I'm looking forward to Fords new 5.0 liter that makes 360 horse 380 lbs/ft of torque, even that new 3.5 liter eco boost looks promising.

@EatmyDust1311 heck no mines got over 550 hp and its not that i want a light gas sipper its what i wanted to do with it, Thats why i got 2 one is a racer i know sounds weird but here there are a lot of trucks with speed rather then power so i made mine super light and my 2500hd is my power truck

@l00kel00ke wow, 550hp doesnt impress me, a factory roush blower will take a 5.4 to over 500 rwhp for 7k installed. hennessey does a 800hp tt 6.2 also for the price of another truck.. the raptor is a gas sipper, mines done up to 18mpg, and a race truck thats done 90 on a dirt road, ond driven on the CORR track at primm yesterday.

i guess when you buy this truck, it is just like the day you got married to average looking girl which is not your first options..you get bored on the second day, then you have to stuck with it..after one year, you get use to it ..then it start to grow on you and become your life partner .. if only it didn't break down within 6 months.. i still prefer ford though :)

My mom has this truck, mainly uses it to pull our camper. Literally the only thing it's good for. Road noise is amplified, the ride is uncomfortable. I'm never buying a Chevy or any American manufactured car lmao

Jill, the ride of this Silverado is hushed and uncanny comfortable. You should also know that the Chevy Impala LTZ is consumer reports winner compared to Camry and Nissan. One reason you may be experiencing bad ride quality with the Silverado is your mom maybe driving like a woman, lmao.

Here's the story with this truck: rear drum brakes, a vinyl front bumper, an ancient frame and suspention design, a transmission cooler suitable for a radio-flyer toy wagon, a cheap, lousey, rattely interior, and, worse, ANCIENT, ANCIENT, ANCIENT in all areas. At best, it looks like a dressed up fleet truck. It's fucking ugly. I don't buy from those who choose to offer customer re-warmed 1990s styling and engineering.

God Chevy trucks are so god damn ugly! The 2000 - 2002 Silverados were beautiful up until Chevy put those ugly cat eyes and then the 20 foot fenders that stick out. I used to love GM but they need to build a REAL truck not a F150 knock off. They need to stop trying to copy Ford and Dodge and just build their own damn truck...
