This car is so nice I don't know why so many people hate on it.... Oh well

FINALLY someone who actually acknowledges that this car doesn’t deserve the hate it gets. I see a lot of people saying that the Crossfire SRT-6 doesn’t deserve the hate it got back in the day, while that is partially true, those are the same people who bash the CSRT4 for “not living up to the reputation that the Neon SRT-4 had” or “being uncool” or for “being the reason Dodge killed the SRT-4”. None of those claims are even remotely true. The Caliber SRT-4 did the exact same thing the Neon SRT-4 did, it took an ordinary rather bad pedestrian car and turned it into a modern hot rod. Yes the regular Calibers had CVTs (although some that weren’t SRT-4s and euro market cars had manuals although it was very rare option ), but were regular Neons really that great? No, if anything Neons had a shittier reputation for reliability than the Calibers did. The Caliber didn’t murder the SRT-4, hell there was a Dart SRT-4 concept car so the nameplate very well could have made a return. Also Chrysler was seriously losing money because of the end of the Daimler days and because of the recession which is why production was so limited. I think the reason it didn’t get as much traction as the Neon SRT-4 did was because of how long it took for Chrysler to put it on sale. The original Neon SRT-4 concept car was unveiled at SEMA in September of 2005. Chrysler then showed the concept of a high performance Caliber at SEMA again at SEMA in 2006 and 2007. It wasn’t until the fall of 2007 that Chrysler began taking deposits for the car. It was supposed to go on sale six months earlier. I think if it had been brought to the market quicker it would’ve performed better.

You forgot to mention that it also tops off in the same range as the evo and sti. So with half the price, the same top end and on a completely different market I think the Caliber is a better buy. Though I'd wait and see if Dodge will release the Demon in 2010 then get the SRT-4 version of that.

as an example, i work at a chevy dealership and there is this one customer who travels alot. he has a 06 impala lt...as of yesterday, it has 274,000 miles and still looks brand new and drives like it too. the only thing he has done to it is a tune up, coolant transmission power steering and fuel flush at 80,000 miles, 160,000 miles, and 140,000 miles...he gets it detailed once a year and it literally looks like and drives like it just came off the lot

Gee, that's a funny assumption. I can't even count how many Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep vehicles I see on the streets that are still running. My Ford is 10 years old, and in those 10 years I've had 9 recalls on it, 3 tire recalls, 3 cruise control recalls, 3 windshield wiper motor recalls. 6 of those caused vehicles to spontaneous-combustion. even with the vehicle just sitting there. That's 1 recall per year, then there's the problem them being easy to break into that Ford refuses to admit.

no problem the only other good "budget performance" platforms are the 240sx, if u like rotory engines, the RX8, RX7 especially, and maybe even a 04 or 05 350Z if u can find one but absolutely cannot recommend a VW product, including Audi...the are not reliable and will break down on u time after time, not to mention the cost to have something fixed at a shop or dealership
@mtooshort2016 жыл бұрын
true, the neons were an even bigger POS than this. the design for this was all wrong. if ur pulling toward a young tuner crowd, then make a coupe that looks sporty...although chevy has its problems, like water pumps for instance, they never really had a car that was a huge problem. these newer model chevys really dont have mechanical problems to speak of until around 70,000 to 90,000 miles, and as long as u keep maintenance up to date, they last well over 250,000 miles

Well considering they're doing better than GM and Ford I'd say the car is the least of their problems. One thing to remember though, if domestics go then so do the imports. Ford = mazda, Land Rover, Jaguar, Lincoln, Murcury, and Volvo. Chrysler = dodge, jeep, Mitsubishi, hyundai, Maybach, Mercedes-Benz, and Smart. GM = Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Daewoo, Holden, Hummer, Opel, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn, Vauxhall. So even if people think it's only domestic, I'll be a much greater fall for cars.

Anyway straight to the point, Yes this Caliber is a POS but I wouldn't trade 1 caliber for a rebadged Plymouth Neon. The issues the neons had were crazy, but if you noticed when dodge took over the production not much changed. I, myself, have never had any problems with dodge or jeep. All my problems came from Ford, and some problems from chevy. I think every company has that one lemon. This car is dodge's Ford has the Ranger, chevy I turned away from so I don't really know much about them.

id much rather have a cobalt ss turbo...0-60 takes 5.4secs, it has no lift shift, launch control, much lighter, and its a COUPE!!! lol...it also costs the same and has alot more performance potential than this caliber does
love the engine (285bhp) but hate the body styling, looks too heavy bulky and is too high. shd've kept it nimble, light, low, aerodynamic! this car isnt going to sell! another domestic thats so close yet so far to being great and beating the imports.

i never said Fords where good vehicles. what i said was "Chrysler, has gained a reputation for building crappy cars that break down after leaving the lot, even worse than Ford". Ur right, Fords are crap, but so are chrysler products. yea u see alot of em ridin around, but they break down just as much as Fords, believe me, i had a few of em. now all i buy are chevys. i've had 5 of em and i now have an 06 impala. 70,000 miles, not one problem yet except for a BCM failure recall at 50,000 miles
@mtooshort2016 жыл бұрын
first of all, they are not doing better than GM and Ford...these two are actually still selling cars, despite the state of the economy. Chrysler, on the other hand, has gained a reputation for building crappy cars that break down after leaving the lot, even worse than Ford...in fact, the only domestic that most likely will fall is in fact Chrysler...Senate and Obama administration have already stated that they will help GM and Ford, but the automakers have to come up with a better proposal
@mtooshort2016 жыл бұрын
lol that is funny...how can dodge rate this in the range of the evo and sti when it cant even beat a stock cobalt ss turbo?? lol hell, it couldnt beat a cobalt ss supercharged!! lol this thing will never sell well,,,they'll have to bring back the neon...if they dont go outta buisness first lol
