2008 Jaguar XK (X150) passenger side water leak (final)

I finished the car back in April but its been a busy year so far and KZbin has been pushed to the bottom of my list of priorities.. but finally here it is. I got the car under cover in the (re-built) garage and got stuck in.

My XKR is leaking in the EXACT same rear spot as I have discovered this week during the rain. Gonna hope its the same thing as yours, I will start on it this week. Man Thanks for this.

The alluminium bodies are more suscepible to expansion/contraction than steel bodies and over time the seam sealer loses it elasticity, goes brittle and cracks, hence the leaks. I did a few vids on my Jag - from diagnosing the issue to curing it - and so far no more issues. Good luck.

What actually caused the leak ? Is it still fixed ? A common issue is the Duckbill drain on the passenger side , it’ll put water on the passenger side carpet.

Hi I did a few vids on this. I thought I’d put them all in a playlist. But anyway, there were two leaks. The duckbill was sorted a few years back. These leaks were old seam sealer that had cracked. A. On the inside door sill and b. Front footwell right in top corner. I stripped the rest of sealer, reapplied and no issues since. Cheers.

I also suddenly have a dropping head liner on my 2006 XK. It went from a small corner down to almost 100% down in a couple of weeks and that is in a dry car. Have you tackled the removal yet? If so, I would love to see some videos, please. Richard

I’m too busy right now but I’ll get it done in august. I will probably get the liner out of the car and peel the fabric off the mold and re-gum using 3m spray. Depends how crumbly the old gum is and if I can get it off cleanly. Will video.
