How did you take the lower bolt off that holds the EGR to the car? Did you go from underneath the car? I'm trying from above but can't seem to have enough room to get to the bolt.

I ran into a problem that stump even the Chrysler Mechanics. I had Autozone order a rebuilt short block for me, and then hired a mechanic to swap it in. Kept getting 0401 code (EGR flow) check engine light. Replaced the EGR valve, and that didn’t help. The Chrysler mechanics found a plug in the EGR port and removed it, but that still didn’t fix the problem. Removed the EGR valve again, and looked down the EGR port with a mirror and flash light. Found another plug about two inches in. Tried tapping out the hole, but it just turned with the tap. Had to back off the exhaust manifold to get it out. The port is about six inches long and comes from the exhaust port on cylinder 5. Used a hammer and some old screw drivers to drive it into the cylinder 5 exhaust port, and then was able to pull it out with a magnet.

I replaced my egr valve. It still runs horrible. And the machine still says it's the egr valve please advise

Homesteading with the Heberts no not yet i just cant get a ratchet on there since the exhaust pipe is really close to the bolt and the head of the ratchet hits rhe top of the egr valve as soon as i try to rachet it

Homesteading with the Heberts yes that one i tried a small rachet and then a wrench but it took too long and i gave up. Yes thats the one. Did you use the ratchet from the side or front of the vehicle

For that bottom bolt that's a 10mm use a wobble extension and a 1/4 extension. It will get that bottom bolt off.
