2010 Dodge Grand Caravan EGR valve replacement/ PO404 Engine fault

Thanks, this helped me out a lot. Most of the other videos on this body style show the EGR valve near the alternator on the left. Yours was the only one I could find where the valve is back behind the coil pack. A couple tips I thought I'd add for making it easier to deal with that bottom bolt: 1) Loosening/removing the two 8mm bolts on the back of the EGR valve that connect it to the pipe which runs back to the engine will allow the pipe to move slightly, giving you a little bit of room to get your hand back behind the EGR valve. 2) If you've got a snap ring tool or a pliers there's a hose behind the coil pack that you can remove as well to make getting to that bolt much easier.

This video helped me replace my EGR valve and avoid paying the mechanic $350 bucks! Took me about a 1/2 hour. I didn't have to remove the vacuum tube or spark plug wires. There was enough clearance to work around them. Thanks for posting this!

Replaced EGR valve on 2010 dodge grand caravan SXT 4.0L. Fixed all the EGR issues (stalling, rough starts, etc). but I'm still getting check engine light. Checked thru ignition and still has P0406 even though the EGR valve is new and all the issues resolved. Is there anything else I need to do to reset the light?

I love these videos where they tell you what they did but do not film them actually doing the work. Show me how you got your wrench in the back, show me how hard it was to pop the connections loose, show me how hard it was to line up the holes when you were reassembling the unit. Show your work.

Hi folks, a correction when I review my video the bolt sizes stated in my video are referring to the size of the tool needed to remove the bolt in each circumstance and not the bolt size itself.

Don't need to go anywhere for diagnostics. Turn the key on off 3 times and leave on. All your codes will appear. Than you Google the codes

it seems very strange to me that you went to auto zone for diagnostics but you went to Napa for the part that EGR valve cost u 99 dollars if you would have bought the part at auto zone you would have paid 76 dollars and some change not very smart

Just an FYI. Auto Zone is on my way home from work so it was more convenient to stop there for the diagnosis. I only paid $65 with no tax at Napa because of my jobs business account with them. I said $99 in my video as this is the cost it would be to everyone else just to clear things up for you.

The 76 dollar Dorman EGR valve has terrible reviews on amazon. Check them out. The smartest thing to do is buy OEM part. Amazon also sells that for less than dealers do.
