I had the same trouble with mine, though I had 2 teeth missing. It occurred to me that the unit doesn't likely use more than a small portion of the gear. So, I used a very narrow chisel and cut off the opposite side drive tooth. I had to also flatten the opposite side of the 'D' shaft on the other end. Switched the whole gear 180° and put it back together. Works like a charm! Thanks for posting this.

Thanks for the video. I have to do this to my wife's car, I have watched a couple of different videos before and couldn't see them very well... but whatever you filmed the video with is CRYSTAL clear. Added bonus was the disassembly of the old unit. Which I will probably do as well just to check it out...Thanks again!!...

Thanks man! Just got the damn part in the mail from ebay 2 days ago. Actually found it for 21 bucks. THANK YOU for putting this video together. Oh, and we didn't know that the air-recirculation button on the dash stopped the knocking, so thanks for that too :-)

Thank you so freaking much. I always like to find videos before doing something even as simple as this. I couldn't find anything for my 09' Taurus which is basically the same design. Looked EVERYWHERE and couldn't get good info. Already had the part. BTW, I would have listened to the entire video even if you did that voice, cracked me up. Reminded me of the Will Sasso impression of Kenny Rogers from MadTV

Just an Awesome vid! I didn't have any idea that replacing the motor was so easy. I have a 2007 Ford Focus SES and the recirculating motor and I hope that it is the same thing. Anyway your video I am sure will be of great learning towards my issue of not only having a different car and year but just how easy it is to address an issue. You're just Amazing. No bull, just straight to the issue of how to fix a problem. Thanks, James

ford told me there are 3 actuators .i replaces the passenger side but it still blows cold air no heat there should be a recall on this many fords. if there is a center one i have to find it that will make the passenger actuator work. any body replace the center one? The rear heat work fine.
@jimanderson699 Жыл бұрын
GARBAGE !!! I watched another video that showed the old actuator . It was a little bit bigger and Ford wanted them to be smaller. WHY ....idk ??? because everywhere these pos' s are located , imo, they don't really need to be especially since they (Ford Dealers) charge you 5.5 Labor Hours because THEY remove the WHOLE dash to get at it. It was also stated in that same video I saw, that the old actuator had flimsy gears and they wanted to make the new one with more robust gears . Now these new ones main flaw seems to be the new gears are the only problem. I too took mine apart and 1 tooth was missing on the exact same gear you were looking at . Great video Man , glad I stuck around to find out that was your goofin around voice !! 😂

Great video!! Not sure if this is bad on my Ranger. I have a 2009 Ranger Sport 4.OL. I was at the car wash yesterday and it was running like it was gonna cut out!! Under the hood I heard a popping/clunking noise as I was sitting there in neutral feeding it gas so I wouldn't stall out. the sound was one or two times and then three or four more really quick and then it would stall out. The sound appeared to be coming from under the hood. the guys at the shop, I just put $1000 in the truck, said the fuel pump was going bad. Yesterday in the drive way it finally gave me a trouble code that I have yet to diagnose. any ideas of what else it might be. saving up for the fuel pump repair!! thanks

Very helpful for the clicking blend door actuator, which I have replaced 3 x in 200,000 miles, but I do not think that is the recirculation module. My current problem has the unit stuck on recirculation, a dangerous condition in cold temps with multiple people in the car.
@BPOP0073 жыл бұрын
I think it is the recirculating actuator as I have the same problem when using the recirc button.

I don’t know if you can answer me this but when I turn on the heater it blows hot air on the passenger side but not the driver. The driver side just blows cold air. The heated seats also don’t work on driver but thats ok. Any way you can help out??

my car the radio is on input and i can not change to anything else. Also, i cant turn on the heat. you can feel the heat when you are driving still coming out the vent slightly. However, the heat blows out the back. what is the problem? something did hit the console that could have caused the stop of controlling.

I just replaced the rear actuator - same part and I know I know what I'm doing as I replaced the front ones back in the fall. I seem to recall having to pull a fuse or something to "reset" it. I'm still getting that knocking sound with the new part. Any thoughts?

Is this the blend door for the whole system or just for the one side? I am getting cold air out of the passenger side when the temp is set for heat. Driver's side is perfect. Is this the blend door which would be the problem or would it be another one up closer to the vent?
@shogunfox71413 жыл бұрын
Any update? My 2012 Flex is doing the same thing. Just passenger side blows cold air with heat turned on, no clicking noise.
@Stopstalkingme3336 жыл бұрын
So my 2010 flex blows out only hot air on the passengers side. The drivers side works fine. You can't change the temp from hot to cool on the passengers side. So is that the same part for my issue as well?

shouldnt toss the old one- gear doesnt move that far- could you put it back 180 degrees farther? also what causes the gear to break? is the door stuck or something hanging it up from moving? that would be the real cause

Depending on your vehicle, there could be 3 different actuators. Under the steering wheel column, slightly to the right....behind the radio, and behind the glove box as in the video.
