Wish we'd play more SEC teams. We won't play Bama until we're all collecting social security

Theres a reason for that. We have to get to Bama's level before we play them. The only way I'd play Bama is in the CFP. The same w ou now. This will probably be the last Bedlam unless we meet in the CFP. The reason why ? Is because of our record with them. We can't beat them right now. I hope we meet ou a decade from now in the CFP and OSU will have 7 PAC 16 titles and ou will have 1 maybe 2 sec championships. That's why we need to move to the Pac 12 there is so much opportunity for growth there.

@@skylersadventures I said what I did about Bama because we actually have them on our schedule, just not until the end of the decade. Moving to the PAC 12 would be a mistake. Winning a soft league gets you no respect. You don't grow by playing weak competition.

@Samuel Wells You don't send players to the NFL if you don't play a strong schedule. Scouts aren't impressed by players who can beat up on scrubs. Tevin Jenkins going in the second round is the highest drafted player we've had since Russel Okung was drafted 6th overall. We haven't had a first round pick since and good luck getting anyone after the second round to get any significant amount of playing time. The guys we do have in the NFL are bench riders (Justice Hill, AJ Green, Marcell Ateman) or are injured so frequently that they barely ever get to play anyway (Emmanuel Ogbah, Lane Taylor, Blake Jarwin). Guys don't want to just go to the NFL, they want to actually play. The last guy we had in the NFL who got a significant amount of playing time who made any notable impact on his team's performance is Dez Bryant who for all intents and purposes is retired now. You know that saying, "iron sharpens iron"? That's what I'm getting at. You don't get better by beating up scrubs. Scouts don't want to watch those games and big name recruits don't want to play in them because it only stands to hurt their draft stock.

@Samuel Wells Those guys are the exception, not the rule. There's a reason OU had 2 QBs go first overall for 2 straight years, Bama has like a dozen guys who are starters, Ohio State has like another dozen NFL defensive players, Notre Dame has 15 hall of famers, etc.

@Samuel Wells Gundy never played in the pros, nor did anyone else in our coaching staff with the exception of Tim Rattay who was only an active player for like 3 seasons before getting cut 3 consecutive times. Guys want to play for teams because of brand recognition, where they're located, or ideally both. OSU is in a tough spot in both regards. The brand is larger than it's ever been and is associated with more success as an overall athletic program than almost any other but somehow still does not draw the same attention as OU, Michigan, Florida and the like. Stillwater is also far from an ideal location for many of these guys. If you're not a country boy, you most likely will not enjoy Stillwater. There isn't a whole lot there and it can be pretty boring whenever there aren't sports going on. Ask me how I know. They don't necessarily have to be in big cities like Austin, LA or Miami, but the rural scene normally only attracts people who have been living in it all their lives. The problem with rural recruiting is that most small schools located there don't have the funding for good facilities to train big recruits or they don't have 11 on 11 football at all (lots of places in Oklahoma do 7 on 7). It's a really complex issue with a lot of layers. None of the right cards really fall into place for OSU. The only thing they can do to help themselves right now is play tougher opponents so that at the very least their names can reach the national stage and they can at least occasionally get a big win.
