I just had one of these leak from oil filter housing . I replaced gasket and put little ears on gasket inwards were they don’t show and leak fixed

I pushed in the valve on the oil filter housing to drain oil before removing. I put it back on without resetting the valve. Car is now leaking oil from the oil filter housing. Will the valve reset on its own or I have to remove it and pull the valve back out?

Is it normal for there to be a second seal at top? Not the one inside the oil filter housing but where the housing screws on to. I noticed my car had a second red seal at the top. Was wondering it should be there or if previous person didn't remove it.

welcome aboard, Ohhh Lee!!! yes....with the extra plastic facing outside the housing. does it make sense? or the ring has to sit flat and the extra lip up. hope it helps!!! thanks for comment!
