That 2.5 engine requires 0w-40 in winter or 5w-40 if it does not snow a lot in your area. Oil is good for 7-10k miles as per VW.

Best tutorial? The video offers no torque values for the the drain plug and filter canister. He uses filter pliers on a plastic canister which is incorrect. A cap wrench should be used and applied with the recommended torque.

I would argue that torquing the filter housing etc is no doubt the "proper way" but I would also tell you that when the car was brand new and had free oil changes at the dealer ship they did it the same as I did. Now I assumed the risk doing the work my way and can tell you the car rusted out and became unsafe for the road and the drain plug and filter housing are still original and neither ever fell out.
