I enjoyed this series when actually watching it in real time. Went down to the wire and Kobe had some very good games against a stout defensive team like the #Rockets. Mcgrady was hurt that year and their team still had decent players to help them win and b affective, but KOBe's defining presence and will tu win along with the rest of the laKers, came through to win in the end

The very reason why the Lakers sweeping the Rockets in the regular season 4-0 means absolutely nothing and meaningless in the playoffs. The Rockets took the Lakers all the way to the brink of elimination without Yao Ming & T-Mac, while Kobe & Gasol had to display the strongest games to survive in this 7-game series.

Tracy McGrady apologists always point to him having weak supporting casts, yet the 2009 Rockets completely debunked that as they took the Champions to 7 games without TMac AND with Yao missing more than half the series as well. If you replace TMac on the 2005-2008 Rockets with Wade or Kobe they easily compete for a title and definitely make it past the 1st Round without question TMac’s Magic were actually a poor supporting cast, but so was the East as a whole. Jason Kidd had a lesser supporting cast on the Nets yet took them to consecutive Finals while TMac as a starter never even lost to an eventual NBA Finalist while always being knocked out in the 1st Round.

Kobe during these years never got the respect from the officials he deserved. He'd legit get knocked on his ass 4, 5 times a game and would get hit on his arm as he shot jumpers another 4 times a game and he'd have like 6 free throws. The fuck. I remember him doing an interview where he talked about in practice he'd literally have a coach hit him on his arm as he shot and practice making them like that because he seldom got the calls.
