Nice catch on the corroded fuses. Your paying attention to the mechanicals on your vehicle and take care of them as needed. You did a good job explaining the process of replacing the fuse box. Yeah, that "tripping the cruise" thing is weird.

Thank you for making this video, much more informative then the 2 others I saw that were very short. I have a 2011 that started throwing up the Air bag light then another light, my mechanic quoted the box at $560 from the dealer plus install due to the multiple corroded fuse slots. I couldn't believe it, my box was never opened or removed but when trying to remove the top end all the bottom harnesses stuck to the top. Your video helped me recognize what was going on and I continued the job without further help!! I replaced mine with a used one from ebay for $110 and the lights are all out, running great! Like I saw a couple others say, the bolts that hold the bottom don't have to come out but with limited cable length and the awkward angles you have to get a screwdriver to pry the stuck harnesses off, taking those bolts out does help. That support bracket should be moved out of the way either way as it does give you more access room.

people keep telling me to get out of the past and get with modern technology, but but to me things were so much easier and simpler many years ago,, by the way, I have the exact wire stripper that you have,, I love that thing, it's addictive, now I can't find enough wire.. how about doing a video using yours?

Nice video, it was very informative and help me out a lot. I took apart an old set of feeler gauges to slide in and separate the upper and lower section, but I cannot figure out how to get the green board out. does it just pop off after removing all the old fuses?

@WallysPlace664 ай бұрын
If you start watching at 10:35 you can see those red “spoons” that I made. They release the tabs and I was able to separate the halves to reveal the circuit board.

@@WallysPlace66 Thanks for the quick reply. I was just double checking because the sites to order this part say that programming or something similar is required by a GM dealer. But that didn't sound right for this part.

The corroded terminals were causing different things to not work. That's why I decided to refurbish the whole thing. You also need to find all of the ground strap/wires on your vehicle. My drivers side window switch would short out when I rolled up the window and cancel the cruise. I cleaned the connection on one of the ground straps and that fixed the problem. Hope this helps.
@davidspencer490210 ай бұрын
What issues were you having that caused you to replace that? I have a 2010 and it is starting to throw codes like crazy, just now it did not want you to turn off with the keys out and it went into limp mode while parked also my check engine light is coming on with the keys out of the vehicle
@WallysPlace6610 ай бұрын
There were many corroded fuse, sockets in the fuse box. I also found out later that there are some bad ground straps, which I have not replaced yet except for the hood to Cowell.
