Troubleshooting a rough idle EGR Valve code P0404. 3rd time for the same code. New EGR Valve already

My 2010 grand caravan had the engine light on for more than 4 years code p406, the EGR valve looks good and the valve was ok inside. I just replaced the EGR valve and it solved the problem. The old valve had damaged electronic contacts in the top cover.

Should of run the pintal egr valve test on the drb3,to see if valve is working

A friend Montero Sport had an egr code. He replaced the valve. The light came back on. He brought it to me. It had a bad egr switch.

Two problems... One is carbon caked intake manifold & feed hole IN to EGR VALVE, second problem is bad catalytic converter and lots of back pressure will open the EGR valve up and set a code... SEEN Both in my life JT

Some cars watch the MAF or MAP sensor as it operates the EGR valve to verify if there is actual flow. Not sure if that one does.

Yes, the computer will monitor if the vacuum (map sensor) changes and or the oxygen content in the exhaust change via the o2 sensors. I wanna guess this how it can verify EGR performance..Great point my dude
