Pulling the intake on the F-150 to replace intake O-rings. Not a hard job but a long one. I did this job a month ago and its running good with no leaks.

Thanks for this video, helped me a lot since I have same model truck. One thing I discovered about connecting the vacuum hose on the back because I do have those meat hook arms you referenced. Is instead of lifting intake from front to gain access by reaching through the body of intake, is to tip the intake on it's side and reach in from the drivers side. Helps also to use a mini vise grip to hold clamp open until you have hose slid back on to nipple. You can actually see most of what your doing this way and avoid cutting up your arm on the intake as you reach in and under. Very useful video for us DIY'ers.

Thanks for the video. I am about to do my intake gaskets for a lean code problem but this helped a lot in understanding everything involved.

Nice to see you work on your own stuff and I can tell it's not your first rodeo. Put some more Super Stock content on the channel. Thanks

Man them 5.4 tritans have been around for a while now. Seems like there's always something wrong with each version of it. Same as every manufacturer tho. To be expected. Hooe that holds up good for ya man!! Need a hard working truck to keep making dune trips!!!

great video, but i am sure others have said, this in not the easy way to do this. i also have a 2010 5.4l, but this is what i did. do not touch the top of the motor, just take off alternator and mine was only leaking from the driver side coolant pipe, so once i got it all loose, i realized i had enough room to remove the gasket on the driver side and replace it, do you know that ford wanted $600 for the gasket kit to do this job. that is crazy. i spent $17 at advance auto( part# 35789 ) to do this job. cause i did not know what i was doing it took me alot of time to figure it out, but i could EASILY do this again in 1.5 hours now that i know. a 1/4 ratchet with a short 8mm socket is a MUST to get to the one bolt that is hard to get to. once bolt is loose and turned part of the way out, ratchet must come off, shove phillips screwdriver in back of socket to remove all the way. all bolts are 8 mm or 10 mm. one bolt for alternator is 13mm. thats all you need. dont know about torque settings, just use a 1/4 in. ratchet and tighten it down good.

Yeah, I ended up just replacing every top end O-ring. Made much bigger of a job than it had to be.

I have a question 🙋🏻♂️; what kind of symptoms do you have in your truck before you replace the gaskets and water pump ?? Do you have overheating issues??
@herrjugsracing78162 жыл бұрын
Yes, it was getting hot as it ran out of coolant. The cooling fans were coming on all the time. The overflow tank would be empty after time and I would have to refill it.

My 5.4 just started leaking yesterday morning from the rear driverside of the intake how much time did you have in the repair time?
@herrjugsracing78162 жыл бұрын
I did it in a day. I don't remember the exact time but I would say 6 hours if never done before.

When driving with this leak would your engine bay spew steam a lot?
@herrjugsracing78162 жыл бұрын
Yes it would from time to time. The leak was slow.

If you can remove the crossover (where the leak was) without lifting the intake..... why lift the intake? Just asking.
@herrjugsracing78162 жыл бұрын
It was easy to remove but I don't think I could install it without pinching an Oring off. It was fairly tight pinch.
@stephensoles37732 жыл бұрын
@@herrjugsracing7816 I devised a short cut. With a dremel I zipped off the offending eyelet of the intake, crossover slid right out. To reassemble I used a stud,spacer, and washer setup to secure both the crossover and the corner of the intake. Was MUCH less disassembly and just as effective. I called it a design improvement.

Where can I buy the intake manifold from?

Any local auto parts store or Amazon and Ebay. They are plentiful.

There isnt any water in the plenum. Thats vacuum only. Your leak was the cross over tube. Outside of a vacuum leak or that feed tube from the water pump to the heater hose on the r/r cylinder head there isnt any reason to pull the upper plenum. Nice video though. Thank You
