Does anyone know what to search for (or a part number) for that plastic cover panel labeled "oil filter"? Mine got damaged by tractor trailer debris. When I search, I seem to only come up with the large splash shield part. Can't find that removable cover no matter how many variations I punch into Google. (perhaps it's not possible to just by the removable panel, separately) However, everything I see seems to look like just one solid piece so I worry that if I bought it (with the intent to poach just the oil filter cover panel), I'd be out of luck. Thanks!

If they are kept in good condition, will help keep rust and other road debris from smacking into metal. They're useful to have!

When I'm turning counter clockwise on the oil plug, it pulls the whole oil pan in a downward direction. Is that normal?

You could go to a salvage yard and get a different oil pan

“Oil filter will fill up as I fill the engine”. Bull hockey. But I don’t fill filters before install either. Not needed.

You pre lube it with oil to allow proper flow and seal, you don't pre fill

Broke number one rule in the book which is always remove oil cap on top of the engine bay before draining any of the oil! Rookie mistake

I never do, gives the possibility of contaminating the oil

why??

@@ljkj63 Normally mechanics remove the cap to allow the flow of oil to be accelerated an to make sure everything is drained, but mechanics normally don't give much of a shit about the cars they work on because they don't own them and the more damage people cause to their cars (like contaminates in the oil) makes them more money. I like to make sure the system has no possibility of having random things go in. Though I work on my car in my driveway and not in and garage, I always like to be extra careful. My baby has 460xxx km and still going strong. Cars last a lifetime if you take care of them properly, but no one does these days because mechanics bullshit people so heavily.
