I see this video is 5 years old, but I just purchased a 2011 Fusion SEL. I've never worked on a car (it's a a NY thing we have the best transportation, so really don't need a car). Now I"m in my 60's and live in pacific northwest, so I cannot afford most mechanics. I am so grateful for this video, fantastic job bro. I am going to check your channel to see what else you teach. This is spot on perfect and good advise too. So from a total novice who is going to try and save some money and learn at same time, respect. This is perfect. Thank you again.

The only thing I would do different is take a screw driver and poke a hole in the bottom of the oil filter to prevent your hand from getting oil soaked. I just bought the IDENTICAL car to yours. Thank you for showing me how to change the oil in my new baby. Dave in South Carolina.

Should the car be let down so the car is level and all old oil is drained? Thanks For the help!
@ChrisLoXFB7 жыл бұрын
No! The drain plug is positioned so the oil properly drains when the car is jacked up. It might be a good idea to let it down when you refill the oil. Just be sure to never start the engine without oil. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Nice video mate, I recently bought a 2011 Ford Fusion and got my 1st oil change at a service station but I purchased the oil myself but as per the owners manual I wanted to add 5.3 quarts, standard sizes are a 5 quart and I asked them to use a bit from a 1 quart can, he went a little over maybe 5.35-5.4 quarts, is this harmful for the engine? Should I get a little drained out

6:14 That IS the damn drain plug bolt? WHAT THE HELL??? I have more experience than most kids my age, but mostly with older GM’s and my first car which was an Altima. But the fucking plug is sideways on this car?? What the fuck 😂 honestly I looked at it right away with doubt, but I should have just known. Because what the hell else is that bolt doing there 🤦🏻♂️ Three of my 9/32 screws were missing, and the only other screw that was holding that oil filter guard up was one of the 10mils from the guard next to this one. Plus my drain plug cover isn’t even there, and this is exactly why I love doing maintenance on used cars that have been purchased recently. Anyways, thanks for the help man, I appreciate it. Haven’t really worked on a car “this new” and I was scratching my head a bit over this one, as silly and basic as it is
@tonyowens28723 жыл бұрын
Love when people post these kinda videos, this whole job takes half the time he took!!! Step one warm oil not hot drains faster, step 2 rear cover oil plug drain oil by time you get cover off for filter oil will be done draining, replace plug and cover then filter and cover. ROOKIE'S

I can NOT get the oil drain plug bolt loose. 15mm is too big, I tried using 13mm but just can't loosen the plug. Tried using a hammer to tap the socket wrench but am worried about stripping. Any tips?
@ChrisLoXFB5 жыл бұрын
Try using a longer handle on the wrench. Or, add a length of pipe to the handle so you can get the leverage needed to break it loose.

I love the Fusion, but, what a useless design. Wasted plastic. I’ve never had an issue with any car’s oil components scraping the ground or being damaged. I know it looks clean, but, is so wasteful.
@chriso2296 жыл бұрын
After adding the 5 quarts of new oil what was your oil level after you lowered the car? Or did you have to add oil after adding the 5 quarts? I ask because the oil change place charges me for 6 quarts of oil for my 2012 Fusion SE with the 4 cylinder engine w-auto transmission.
@ChrisLoXFB6 жыл бұрын
Hmm. maybe 2012 is different but mine only takes 5 quarts. 4.7 to be exact. Thanks for watching!
