LIMP MODE ?? P2445 : How to remove / replace secondary Air Injection Pumps

The pumps are 12 volt DC so you can also test the pumps by making yourself two jumper wires to run from your battery. Disconnect the cable connection to the pump and make note of size terminals. Get yourself the correct terminal connectors to attach to the pump terminals so that they don't touch each other. Take the other end of your jumper cable and touch one to your battery + post and then shortly test to - post of your battery. Just for a second or two to do a bump test. I had one pump that would spin but the other did not so I have the choice to order only 1 pump before tearing into it. Wiring from the pumps: Red is hot and black is ground.

I replaced both of mine in a 2007 tundra. Also bought the update breather neck to avoid the water being sucked into them again. Replace both and clean them if they aren't cracked, maybe have them as spares.

My friend thank you for the video, I bought 2 pumps and would it matter if I accidently plugged for example bank 1 into the bank 2 harness they look the same?

Depend on how the system work, computer maybe turn on only the bank(s) that need air injet into the exhaust. If it turn on the wrong pump then computer will set the Fault codes and turn check engine light on. If after many km of driving both in the city and hi way with no engine light on, you are good

thank you for video, question: if by accidently plugged bank 2 to bank 1 or bank 1 to bank 2 will it matter? I bought both new pumps and they both look the same, the reason I ask is because i installed both and erased the check engine code but after a day of driving it came back on and truck went to limp mode.

Yes, PCM turn on each pump separately depend on which bank need air and need more air. That is why they came with 2 pumps .So, switch the pump connectors back, clear the codes and try it, good luck

Great Video!, I have a 2012 Tundra, V6 and had air injection system code P2443, I did replace the air pump with new OEM air pump and new valve for passenger side, I did double check all connections are good, but I still see the engine light, I reset it but still come out, I noticed the pump not making sound when I have the switch on, any ideas why this happening , is there a fuse or relay need to be checked ? thank you

Sorry for late reply, there is no fuse or relay for this 2 pump, it control by modules for each air pump, both module are small(8 wire plug) both module at left rear of engine compt according to the wiring diagram

Thanks for your video. I have a 2009 4.7 and have replace one pump that’s on the right side where would I find the other pump? It’s a 2009 tundra 4.7 regular cab.

It's should be at the same location unless it is had only one pump. I have to check the manual

It’s has 2 pump, the right front of engine it bank 2, bank 1 air pump it at top of engine. That is base on the wiring diagram

I replaced both air pumps. Checked first to make sure they were good. I get a p2445 code saying they are stuck off . Is there a fuse, link or relay that needs to be replaced, if so where is it?

Found out that if you open them up, you can actually clean them and they will work again.

Check the Wirings, Fuses that can cause the Pumps not working. Did it still have the same codes?

Dealership is better but you can get them from NAPA or Auto value, Canadian Tire

Air Pumps work or not have nothing to do with the NO Start, you have other issues. scan it to see what code and go from there

The inlet tube is the reason why the water got into the pumps. It was a poor design by Toyota. I just changed everything and it costed me an arm and a leg.

Why not follow the air tubing and see if it goes to the side of the engine where cylinder one is where it's at the side of the engine where bank bank 2 is where cylinder 2 is just follow the air tubing an that should tell u what bank is which
