@@cmbiggo mine ended up being the wiring harness for the knock sensors. Mice chewed it. $40 harness from the dealer. You just pull the intake manifold off and it’s under there. Two wires chewed. It fixed it perfectly. Maybe an hour of work.

I found this video helpful and would like to offer some anecdotes. The Tundra was giving the P2445 code, indicating a Bank 1 Air Injection Reaction Pump failure. This is one of two pumps located between the front right wheel well and engine compartment. The compartment holding the two pumps is on top of and in front of the front right (passenger side) wheel and tire. You will have to remove the protective covering between the wheel well and engine compartment with wire cutters or snips or a fastener remover. There was one unique plastic (rubber) fastenter, that required me to use a drill bit to remove it, since it wouldn't unscrew or release. I just put a drill bit in my drill and drilled through the middle of the fastener, and pulled out the whole thing. This video provides most of the other info so you can dismount the pumps and replace one or the other or both. The location of bank (pump) A and B, since there are two of them can be confusing. The pump located toward the center of the vehicle is bank (pump) A and the one located toward the outside is bank (pump) B.

Mine went out in my 2010 tundra with over 130k on the engine and Toyota fixed it for free. They also installed the newer snorkels that curve 180 degrees. I was shocked because the warranty had been long expired. They told me it was a known issue and a engineering problem with the old style snorkels. Snow pack would build up in the wheel well area and melt. With the old snorkel like your truck has, the snow would melt and get into the pumps and ruin them. The new design is supposed to eliminate that issue. Thanks for the video.

Mine is 2010 4.6 L with 76k miles on it. Called Toyota usa to complain as a 2nd owner since 2017, and they told me its not a recall. It was service notice which was mailed out once only to original owner in 2012, and expired in May 2020! and there is nothing we can do..would you please let me know when exactly you took it and had it fixed and what dealership fixed it, I live in rock hill, SC. I have code p2440. 2 mechanics told me only dealer can fix it.

There’s a individual/company that manufactures and sells a by-pass kit consisting of a module and wiring to deactivate the air pumps (Tundra Hewitt I believe ?) This allows the ECU to register the air pumps as working, but allows vehicles to legally pass emissions. What destroys these air pumps is moisture being captured at the bottom cup of the motor and then it seizes up and sets off a code tripping the “money light” on the dash. Some Tundra owners choosing to install new air pumps change to the revamped snorkel from Toyota and then drill 1/8 hole at the bottom of the cup to drain any water that might enter the motor housing.

Per another video, you might have to also replace the solenoids at the back of the engine after taking off the manifold. Alternatively you could install the 3rd party bypass kit.

Those plastic tabs, you press the center in first then pull the entire assembly out. No need to destroy them.

Injects air into the exhaust to help the catalytic converter heat up to minimize emissions, more so during start ups when engines are running rich. Many other manufacturers use them for their vehicles and some even use a mechanical pump that’s belt driven to do the same as these electrical driven air pumps

Mine came on literally an hour after I scheduled my inspection. Found out this morning it came up P0418 and P1605 Is it 100% these pumps or is another issue possible? They cleared it and said drive 60miles, see if it comes back. I made it 200yards lol. It's running fine though, seems full power just the stupid light is on.

Pull the pumps apart and see why they failed. The new ones will eventually do the same. Its moisture that gets inside.

I ask because mine is failing (or failed) and I keep getting a Christmas tree of lights in the dash with a 80% reduction in horsepower as well as torque. I'm sure the truck went into limp mode when the code came up. This happened to me last night with daughter driving and the truck did some funny shifting going up a short hill because of the computer-induced reduced power. I noticed the check engine light this morning when the truck hesitated going up another hill. Code P2445: "Secondary Air Injection System Pump Stuck Off Bank1" (thanks, Autozone!). 2010 CrewMAX 5.7L V8. I'm buying the clips and pumps recommended here and will give it a try this weekend.

@@billyschwander1484 we tested both pumps and only one was working, sorry I do but recall which one. We figured they both had the same age and use on then and decided to replace both. After doing some competitive shopping we were able to negotiate a little better price at Advanced Auto. The repair fixed the problem and it's not going into limp mode anymore.

You can't run up Rpms past 1500 or mph past 40 unless your going downhill. Like constant limp mode, or downhill low idle the entire time. What a headache..

bah! this is a common problem for these...easy to replace ... my buddy just bought a brand new RAM TRX and he barely made it home form the dealership... the engine broke a valve or a valve spring... would not start.
