working on a 2010 vw jetta, customer complaint is a check engine light, the veh has 1 trouble code stored P2433 Secondary air pressure sensor signal short to plus, this veh uses a pressure sensor to monitor secondary air flow it is a 3-wire sensor 5v, ground, and signal, very similar to a map sensor, I hope you enjoy this video and thanks for watching.

As I recall, my 2009 2.5 Jetta had an extended warranty on this part. I got the same code and it was replaced under warranty at 110K. Good to see someone doing VW diagnosis, you will never go broke working on VWs...

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I found my car to have the exact same voltage measurement at the sensor. Don't know what I would have done without your instruction.

I like the tip about changing fault codes from current to intermittent by unplugging the sensor. Haven't tried that before but will in the future!

Great logic with the scan tool by setting dtcs ensuring circuit integrity and leading torwards faulty shorted sensor. 5stars my friend

Great video. I'm glad that I found this channel from your "crossover" with ScannerDanner. I was running out of case studies to watch and learn from with out getting Danner premium. Also, huge fan of learn about vehicles that my shop normally just turns away. You're making me realize that the same diagnostic steps I take with every vehicle can/will work with "Euro trash". Thank you for the share.

Isnt 1-5V and 0-5V normal ranges on sensor output? But i agree, 4,5V is high when there is "nothing" in the tube/engine off.

great video. Maybe it is not a bad idea to give some short explanation about the purpose of the secondary air pressure on engine for getting a better view of the problem.

Nice one! It's sad that snap-on is lacking a lot of info... no data pids for certain VW & Audi vehicles, even though the cars are 6 to 13 years old. I feel even more sad for the techs who update their snap-on scanners more than once per year at a cost of $800+ each time. You'd think that after 6 to 13 years, that snap-on would start filling the gaps!

Hi Tom. I have 2010 Audi Q5 and have p2432. when i deleted the code it reapers immediately after the second start of the car . i am pretty positive it is the pressure sensor and already purchased it to replace but what worries me is that in your video the code reapers even you changed the sensor. could you please update how did you get rid of the code p2432. thank you in advance and thank you for the great video.

I'm working on a 2012 beetle 2.5 that's throwing up that code. Looks like it has the updated Secondary air pressure sensor. How much did you pay for the updated one?

I have no codes but my sec air monitor just won’t set and I don’t know what to do I already drove the damn thing for more than 200 miles in one single trip... and been driving around town and still nothing 🤷‍♂️

So P0491 insufficient flow bank 1 is most likely the air pump itself right ? I have an 09 Jetta 2.5 , can you help me please with any way to test the parts ? Could it be the Kombi valve stuck in closed position or I just need to replace the pump only

It could be a few different things. Best way to check for leaks is energizing the pump and soapy water. If it’s a big leak you will hear it

I had a crack in the hose right before it connects to the combination valve , a little duct tape and it’s fine now , no more light .. I’ll repair the hose with silicone tube when I get a chance, cheapest I’m finding that hose online is 120$, way over priced for a 3 foot plastic hose

Does the map sensor look just like air sensor? Because im trying to find out I think the map is under the throttle body and the secondary is right above we’re your sensor is at I got a 2.5l 5cyl

So basically you replaced the sensor...and all is fine..got same code. What size torx bit to remove it.wouldve been nice to see how to remove it and install it.

My 2011 VW Jetta SE has this same code and it tends to stall when starting up or when at low velocities. Could this secondary pressure sensor be responsible for the stalling?

Most likely it is not the sai pressure sensor. However I have only seen it once where the sai sensor was shorted and pulling down the 5 volt reference. For stalling issues. The crank position sensor is very common on 2.5 engines

Yes it is like a MAP sensor. It is a MAF sensor. I can't find where mine is supposed to plug into from the sensor. Eeeek
