I have a 2016 Sienna SE and followed this procedure from the Toyota TSM, for 2 drains and fills. I can confirm that less than 2 quarts drained out with the plastic straw removed. Each time I refilled with 2-1/2 quarts and then brought the trans up to the correct temperature. Then removed the drain plug and waited for the dribble from the overfill.

@@mikec-v3v You're correct. This is a clip from a filter replacement so the fluid needed is more 👍

Great video. What’s your opinion on using an infrared pyrometer on the pan to check fluid temp vs the scan tool or jumper? It’s definitely the easiest option but just not sure how accurate it needs to be.
@ValleyMobileAutomotive18 күн бұрын
@@lynxer29 The metal in the oil pan will heat up slower than the fluid inside so the actual temp of the fluid will be hotter than the pan.

hi, Thank you for this video! Have a a 2013 Sienna, LE, v6. With pins 4 and 5 jumpered on the connector under dash, it's not going into temp detection mode for me, with gears shifted as per instructions several times. I've added 4 quarts and need to drain some. If I drain without being in temp detection mode, will it drain more/less/same? Thank you.
@ValleyMobileAutomotive16 күн бұрын
@@sergerover9026 Transmission fluid expands as it warms up. If you are under temp then it might not drain enough, if you are over temp it could drain too much.

I just did a drain/fill on my 2014 and only 1.75 quarts came out, how did you get 3.5 out?
@ValleyMobileAutomotive28 күн бұрын
@@stevee4821 There is a plastic "straw" behind the outer check plug. It uses the same size Allen as the check plug. Once that's removed you should get a lot more fluid to come out. Then reinstall the straw before refilling with fluid 👍
@stevee482128 күн бұрын
@@ValleyMobileAutomotive thanks for replying, I did remove the straw when I initially changed the fluid. I read on forums such as siennachat that it's normal for 1.75 QT on the gen3, so I'm not sure what's going on. What year is the Sienna in this video?
@ValleyMobileAutomotive28 күн бұрын
@stevee4821 This is a 2012. But this video is clipped from a longer filter change video so that's probably where some of the extra fluid is coming from.

I have a question…I am looking to buy a 2013 Toyota Sienna that just recently had a new motor put in (67,000). It has a lot of service records, and has been well maintained, but my worry is how long can I expect the transmission to last. The vehicle itself has 202,000 on it , and the transmission has been serviced twice. Thank you!

@@VickiCarter-m3v These are solid transmissions that should last you a long time 👍
