@@LessExpensivefix As dirty as the fluid was, I always drain the torque converter as well and all you need to do is pull the return line that comes from the radiator and disconnect it and start it and let it drain into the pan for about a minute or so.

Hi I had my 100K miles 2017 ford expolores FWD , not sure if the previous owner changed the gears fluid, do you recommend to do it normal way , or refill one liter and waste one liter over a week or so ..please advise ?

First thing you have to do you have to check the transmission level if it's full or is low then if everything is good go any place has a big OBD to check your transmission cold maybe is a speed sensor is bad or if you have abs lights on if ABS light is on too mean you can cause the problem

I had to put a little less than 4 quarts after letting it drain for about 15 mins. You might wanna do it twice, once later in the day after driving since I think it holds 12 quarts total.

12 codes on Commander for a machine to flush the transmission but when you use drain and fill you have just to collect the oil they come from a transmission you have to add the same

​@@Arturo-im1nh The Haynes repair for 2011 - 2017 manual says 11.1 quarts dry, but I think that includes torque converter. I don't think just draining the oil will release the oil in the torque converter. I haven't changed mine yet and am looking more into how much pumping it out takes to refill. Up to 11.1 quarts of fluid for V6 tranny 6f50/6f55. If you drain it replace what you drain do the procedure here with engaging gears then check again. If anyone that works with the pumping system could answer it would be appreciated.

Its inside the case, the trans has to be removed and split to get to it.. Just change the fluid at normal interval and you should be fine.

The whole transmission hold almost 12 quarts but we do this technique join and fill if the car has a lot of mileage you know wants to damage the transmission on your shock the system so we drain and fluid and we add and if you want to do it another time yeah no problem but you have to test the car if the car drive with no problem before change the fluid one more time this is only solution if the car has a lot of mileage and never been serviced before
