I have described Jim McCarty to friends of mine as a guitar player's guitar player. He has never gotten the popular recognition I think he so richly deserves but that doesn't make him any less good. Rock on guys.

I saw them in the 60's twice with the original band. And I can tell you this, no one ever rocked out like these guys. When you talk about energy ,urgency and pure rock music, you defined this band. Mitch took it to a level very few were ever able to achieve. And Mccarty and Johnny B were always on fire. Sock it to me baby.

Back in the last century the city of Hamtramck Michigan which Detroit completely surounds was a Polish community, where both Mitch and I were born. Every Labor day weekend they close off the main street and have a Polish festival, even though the Polish population is down to about 10% now, it used to be over 90% and they still every year, do the Polish festival! Anyways, Every year back in the day, between the Polka band performing on stage, Mitch would get up there with his band and rock Hamtramck. Usually wearing a bowling shirt (it kind of a Polish joke, LOL) I moved out of Michigan in the mid '90s so I couldn't tell you if Mitch still does it.
