I have that exact truck purchased new in 2011. Currently has 255000 km on it and the only repairs I’ve had in 12 years have been a leaky water pump and a pinion bearing! At a brand new purchase price of $27000 I’m very happy with my truck and still drive it today.

They’re great work trucks if routine maintenance are done on time. I had a 2011 1500 ST 4x4 quad cab work truck with over 180,000 miles and still ran great with no major issues. The company decided to upgrade our work truck last year. Honestly, I still miss my original truck, it got better gas mileage and had more power during acceleration.

@poorlittlebiker64763 жыл бұрын
Agreed, it may be the middle man truck (let’s be honest though- no one is really out there buying the v6 version, thus making it seem like the 4.7 is the base truck) but I have an 09 and it does exactly what I need in a truck. Hauls the motorcycle around, packed the bed with mulch, trash, furniture, parts, mowers- etc.; and even carried some friends on a trip comfortably. I personally love how the truck looks on the inside, but I’m a fairly simple man- if it works it’s nice lol
@JesseBusse3 жыл бұрын
To be completely honest the only real benefit you get with the Hemi is the little badge on the side. Not many people are using the full potential of the Hemi more than they would the 4.7

@@JesseBusse Agreed, like you said the higher price tag, slightly higher insurance rates, more fuel stops, and depending on how you outfit it you could actually lose towing/payload capacities with the Hemi. But if ya wanna go fast then get the 5.7, if you just need to get from A-B and get the job done, get the 4.7. Just don't get the v6 lol

I prefer a 4.7l than a 3.5 ecoboost. It’s a great work truck and love the aspect that it’s still a v8 engine to begin with.

Great review! Had a 4.7 in my 06 Dakota. As you said, a good work truck engine provided you do the maintenance. Traded it at 103,000 miles for a Ram 1500 Classic, and yes it has a HEMI 😎👍

I had a 4.7 l Ram and the engine blew at 12400 miles. That’s when I found out those engines are bad and tend to go at that mileage. About a year later I was running fiber optic cable at a Wellers auto shop and overheard someone calling in need of a 4.7 l engine because theirs blew at the same mileage.

I believe the 08+ revised motor that’s in this ram is a “semi hemi” but no 4.7 is a true hemi.

@@JesseBusse I’m doing light service or road side assistance. Keep my tools in the truck. But have done a smaller dump run few hundred pounds. Could feel it working with the weight. With one of my one tones “gas” I wouldn’t even notice that amount of weight. But I like the truck for the lowest end model so I could easily fix it. Also less to break interior wise.

Funny you say the thirst because the difference between the two is only about a mile per gallon or two. But for the most part the the video was just a playful jab. The motor will do just about anything any normal person would need it to

@@JesseBusse I know, I ejoyed the video, I was just sharing about mine, I get about 3 more mpgs on my 4.7, I borrowed a 5.7 ram for a while and had to fill it up before returning it, it only averaged 14, the 4.7 gets 17 average for me.
